Chrome woke up hearing Ken yelling about something. Blinking a bleary eye and rubbing sleep out of both, Chrome paused only to put her eye patch on and with second-thought action picked up the trident in case there was trouble downstairs. Bare feet stuffed into boots and Chrome pulled on a green military-styled uniform top and skirt, before finally leaving the small former office that now served as her room.

Boots clanked against the short staircase down. Chrome blinked as lights and shadow mingled, then her eye adjusted to the dimness of the bottom floor. Walking to the main room, Chrome saw the shadow of a figure sitting on the sofa.

“M-Mukuro-sama?” she questioned aloud, breath caught in her throat for a moment. Only to realize that no…it wasn’t Mukuro-sama. Ken and Chikusa would have been ecstatic if that were the case. Instead, a quick peek inside showed that they were ready to fight.

Chrome stepped close enough to the doorway to get a better look at the person occupying the sofa. She stopped breathing for a moment. Not Mukuro-sama…Hibari-san.

“Get the hell out of here!” Ken yelled before popping a set of different teeth in. Chrome watched as the blond haired boy transformed into something that resembled half human half lion. Hibari rose up from the sofa, but only to raise a tonfa and beat back the beast-teenager, even managing to jam one of the metal ends in between the boy’s spare teeth before kicking Ken back into a wall.

The Vongola Cloud moved to beat the first attacker unconscious, but his attention was brought back to the other one when Chikusa sent needles flying at him. Chrome knew she had to do something too, but when Hibari’s tonfa became wrapped in Chikusa’s yo-yo string, the Guardian jerked the other boy around before flinging him into Ken, knocking both boys back into the wall.

Chrome felt fear creep into her stomach as she saw the two boys slump forward, unconscious. She was left alone now, armed with just illusions, a trident, and a very angry Hibari-san.

Yet, Chrome felt like she had to do something when he walked over to Ken and Chikusa. They were already down and she didn’t want to see them hurt anymore, so the girl ran forward and placed herself between Hibari, the trident extended with the prongs facing him.

Her hands were shaking, but Chrome wouldn’t be moved. “S-stop, they’re already knocked out, don’t hurt them anymore. …why are you here anyway?”

Were they both people who appreciated irony and sarcasm, this would be the point Hibari would remind Chrome of how she rudely entered his domain without so much as an invitation, so he was returning the favor.

However, Hibari hadn’t a funny bone in his body and Chrome probably would have missed something so subtle. Instead, Hibari got right down to why he arrived at this rundown health center.

“The Namimori uniform, I want you to show it to me again.” He demanded. Chrome blinked, lowering her trident, feeling a bit dumbstruck. “I uh…” she glanced to Chikusa and Ken. She should get revenge on their behalf, but the girl wasn’t stupid either. Chrome was well aware that she was just this side of winding up like them- unconscious and lying on the ground.

Mukuro-sama was strangely silent when she asked him what to do. Not even a chuckle, so Chrome suspected that even her master had anticipated Hibari-san to make a house call.

“I…if I do that, will you go away?” she asked, honestly it was Chrome’s only option since fighting him wouldn’t lead to anything good.

“Perhaps” Hibari replied. Chrome swallowed thickly, but as a sign of trust put the trident down then turned to leave the room and go back upstairs to her room.

“W-wait here, I’ll change and come back” Chrome said, trying her hand at issuing orders. It didn’t quite work out like she planned though because Hibari followed rather than staying behind. Chrome started taking the steps two. Then, she leapt up a few to try to lose him. It was no use though because Hibari-san caught the door before Chrome could close it.
