Transitioning to 1 Nap - Part 1

Feb 12, 2007 15:52

For the last three or four days Luke has been fighting his afternoon nap. He did this once before, and when we shortened his morning nap, things got better. Actually the afternoon nap became great! Well, he's started to do it again. This time shortening the nap is not working. When he does go to sleep, it's from 3-5ish, and it is starting to interfere with going to bed. I decided that if his sleeping started to get out of wack again, I would try to transition to one nap. So here we are.

Transition to nap - Day #1

My goal was to get him to stay up until 11:30. We ran a lot of errands, which was part of my plan to help things go a little smoother. (There's just something about being out and about that helps him last longer) Well, it backfired a little. We had a bit of a longer drive to one stop, and he fell asleep -- about a 10 minute nap. He woke up when we got there and did not go back to sleep on the way home. So I fed him lunch at 11 and put him down at 11:30. He went to sleep between 11:45 and noon.  Then he was up at 1:00 - yuck. I changed his diaper and put him down again, hoping that he might go back to sleep. No dice.
However, I am not discouraged because I was warned by some mommy friends that the nap might not be very long at first, but that it would get better (LONGER).

I'll update again tomorrow!
(I still plan on coming to mom's group -- weather permitting!)
