Let me babble about Hawaii Five-O
I am kind of dreading watching the last two eps I have to go before I'm caught up. When does the hiatus end? Whine. Could O'Loughlin BE sexier? I just... ya know, I always had a thing for the SEALs and just, wow. Wow. ILY Squiddy. And the funny, and the ironic, and the feirce protectiveness, and the way he seems very world weary and yet is so very willing to take a man at his word if it sounds like the truth. I love that. And that scene where Danny puts the perp dude on his car and Steve just kinda smirks like "heh, takin' a page outta my book Danno, right on."
And then there is Scotty Caan who I've loved since, I think, Varsity Blues? I think that's what I first saw him in. And oh please oh PLEASE can we maybe have James Caan on and I can just have a Caangasm and die a happy person? Because yes, James Caan is OLD, and not traditionally handsome, and yet the dude is sexy and I don't care if you agree with me or not! He has this indefinable THING, and yes indeed, Scott has it too, this... certain Caan'ness is all I can call it. Sigh. Le sigh.
And I love love love the dichotomy between Steve and Danny, because it's not cut and dry like most buddy cop shows... there's no by the book vs. crazy Mel Gibson/Danny Glover thing, because the thing is, they're both fucking reckless. It's a different kind of reckless though, and I love that. Steve's is a thinking reckless, a calculated, yeah, I could quite possibly fuck up for doing this or maybe even die, but this will get the result I'm looking for. The kind of stick your neck out in traffic reckless that comes from his BAMF SEAL days... Where as Danny is "this is procedure, and I will do what procedure says, and you are annoying me and I would really like to smack you right now but I won't because procedure says I shouldnt and oh, ok, SMACK." There's this scene in what ep I don't even know, but he leans down to talk directly in the persons ear and it's like, he's calm and then suddenly he's just so very annoyed and he smacks the shit out of the dude's ear and goes right back to calm.... Steve wouldn't do that. Danny has an impulse control problem, he jumps in and out of his control, whereas Steve makes calculated decisions to actively be 'out of control.' It's Danny's recklessness that's going to get them in trouble, not Steve's.
Or anyway, that's my take on it. Discuss. Agree. Disagree. Picspam me. Fic rec me. Say "EEEEE" and leave it at that, I don't care. Weee, Hawaii Five-O. By the way, I love Kono and Chin as well, I'm just too enamored with the hotties right now to concentrate on them.
