i <3 Stephen Colbert
Ya know, I just don't go on and on about Colbert nearly as much as I ought to. I love Stephen Colbert. Another one of the reasons why I fell out of love with TDS was the fact that there's no Carell or Colbert anymore. Even Steph/ven was one of my favorite bits, and none of their correspondents were ever as wonderful as Colby or Carell. Granted, Carell catapulted to the height of famosity so good for him, but that didn't help TDS.
But I love Stephen Colbert not just for his persona on The Colbert Report or for his correspondent days on TDS but also for Strangers with Candy, The Ambiguously Gay Duo, his roast of whoever the hell it was he roasted where he was the ONLY funny part of it (Norm MacDonald?). Also, his balls out, down and out, full on ROAST of George Bush and even moreso, the press corps.
Plus, when you hear him or see him on actual interviews where he's not playing a character but just being himself, he is so completely charming and sweet and lovable and awesome.
This video that I found is absolute love. (To those of you elsewhere, I believe England? Wherever it is that you can't watch youtube, let me know if you'd like for me to download these vids and post them so you can download them, and also let me know if flv is a good format for you (watch in VLC) or if you need me to convert them to avi. I'd hate for anyone to miss these. They are love).
When Colbert was on TDS he rarely broke character, but this is what I refer to as The Banana Incident, and I laugh so hard I cry when I watch it.
My favorite recurring bit on TDS, Even Steph/ven:
(I esp love when Stephen and Steve would go "yes" "no" "YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!" Oh, Carell, your yelling wins me every time.)
Unfortunately I can't find a whole bit about The Ambiguously Gay Duo, but:
Colby = Ace, Carell = Gary
And then Strangers with Candy, of course. And let me tell you... the scene where Colbert slams Dinello up against the wall in the bathroom in a ridiculous parody of Every Torrid Love Scene Ever? Surprisingly hot!
(again, unfortunately, my youtube skills are failing me and i can't find a damn clip, but this vid has a few of the greats)
And of course, dude... Colby dancing. Colbert Dancing Owns My Soul. The song is horrible, but it's the only Dancing Colbert video I found wherein it includes mostly dancing. LOL. Lots of them are a whole lot of talking and tiny dance moves.

Then there was my favorite thing maybe ever, which was the War of the Late Night Talk Shows between Conan, Stephen, and Jon. My favorite part of that? The bloopers.
The bromance of those three may even rival that of Stewart/Carell/Colbert.
I'd be remiss if I didn't include the Roast at the White House Press Dinner... it's so ballsy and gutsy and just... the fucking steel BALLS it took to carry this speech out in the face of the people he's mocking, who are not laughing at him all that much... it's hot. I'm hot for him.
The amazing part is that the people there seemed so shocked and offended, and... did you not know who the fuck you were hiring to come roast you? HELLO! THIS IS WHAT HE DOES!
