tonight's torchwood
I normally write down coherant thoughts when I do episode rundowns, but tonight I'm tired and I just thought I'd post my running commentary that I wrote up for hailpoetry because she wanted to know my reactions. Apparently I kind of have funny reactions sometimes. LOL. So anyway, just thought I'd share it so I can discuss it with all of you!
Things you need to know that I don't clarify because hailpoetry already knows how I feel about all of this:
1. I love and hate Gwen... I think she's a very very real person and I love her very mcuh, but god she pisses me off sometimes.
2. I call Gwen Gweneth when I am fussing at her... it's her "you need a spanking" name, like I'm her mother. You know how mom's use full name's when youre in trouble? That.
3. I fucking love Owen. I think he's a dick, and an ass, and I LOVE HIM FOR IT. I'm actually quite disappoitned that they've tamed him somewhat this season. I'd much rather see the transition from dick to less-dickish than just "oh, yeah, he became less dickish over hiatus, you just didn't see it."
4. I'm head over heels in love with the idea of Tosh/Owen.
5. Jack/Gwen. Here's the thing... I'm not 100% against it, I just don't like the suddenness of their "sexual tension" this year. To me, last year started off with a very strong Gwen/Jack vibe, but then Jack got with Ianto and Gwen started fucking Owen,a nd it kind of got dropped like a bad habit. I was actually pretty upset about it, because there is nothing hotter than that scene of him training her on the gun range. And I'd be all for the Gwen/Jack this season if only they'd slowly built up the sexual tension again, like started off with looks and glances and gradually progressed to being trapped together and having to stop trying to touch each other than this... this forced push towards each other that I'm reading the beginning of this season as. I'm sorry if you don't see it the same way I do, and don't think I'm trying to rain on your parade, and I really don't HATE the pairing, I just... wnat it to grow more organically than I feel it is.
Onto the rundown:
Gwen is such an ass. Why is she lying to Rhys? He SAW her. Doesn’t she realize there’s a possibility that he saw her? God, you stupid cow.
I fucking love Rhys’ and Gwen’s accents. And I love Rhys, and he deserves better than her.
Tosh and Owen so own my soul. I just sighed with happiness when I saw them sitting together while eating alien-meat-pizza.
Oh good god, there’s the Jack/Gwen slam-up-against-the-wall. We’ve seen this already, Torchwood. Remember Owen/Gwen? I am really just not into how they're doing this Gwen/Jack shit. They started it in the beginning of season 1 yes, but then they completely fucking dropped it… we’re supposed to buy that it’s been happening this whole time except only offscreen? I don’t think so.
Rhys, what are you doing? The police are involved, it’s a big damn deal, why are you going in there and trying to play all stealth undercover agent? Ya big dumb oaf. Maybe you DO deserve Gweneth.
That’s a big damn alien. Gah.
“You are talking some high grade SHIT here.” LOL. Oh, Gwen and Rhys fighting, that was some rough shit. Lots of cursing, it was beautiful.
Gwen’s speech about the aliens was very “lifted” from Farscape. Opening speech to Farscape: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WYlbKKKHyMs right at about the 25 seconds mark. I guess it’s not lifted, but, it’s the same message.
Tosh is all “maybe we should only date people that know what we do” and Owen is all “we’re the only ones that know what we do” and Tosh is like “yes, I know, I want to date YOU Owen, you great big DOOF.”
She’s… TAKING Rhys to TW?! Seriously? Ha, his face.
I love Gwen’s little “extremely uncomfortable about to shit my pants” smiles. They just crack me up. I love the Jack and Rhys fighting bit, I just wish it weren’t obviously put in there as to show jealousy… Ianto and Jack with the “do I show off?” / “a bit” was great.
Jack: “if we go in guns blazing…” Owen: “not blazing, waving” LOL. Owen, so funny.
“We could always hide behind it.” LOL OWEN.
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL IANTO! “I’ll stock up on Plankton.”
Hee hee, Owen/Tosh scenage. OMG SHE ALMOST TOUCHED HIM. She was going to rub his back but she backed off. She’s all “I’ll keep you company”. Aw, Tosh, you’re putting yourself out there and Owen’s just all…. “I totally don’t understand that you’re hitting on me, because I’m a big dumb jackass.”
I can’t TELL you how happy it makes me that they’re reinforcing the fact that Tosh has a crush on Owen in such an overt way. It makes me t hink that RTD is also in love with Tosh/Owen and that eventually it’s going to lead somewhere… Somewhere romantic and tragic and happy and heartbreaking, I’m sure, but SOMEWHERE.
I don’t like Gwen looking at Jack when she’s kissing Rhys. It’s fucking creepy for one, and it’s fucking SHITTY for two. Come ON Gwen, do you not see what a great guy Rhys is? He’s a bit of a doof sure, but he’s a sweet doof. You want Jack, Jack wants you? Fine. DUMP Rhys first. He doesn’t deserve to be lied to and strung along.
Aw. Rhys: “Just wish you’d’ve been uglier.” Now that, my friend, is the way to win Jack over. Heee.
Once again I find myself completely ambivalent about the storyline itself, and yet still loving the characters and the things they do and say… even when I hate the things they do or say, they just read real to me, in these incredibly fake circumstances, and only RTD can do that so well.
Awww. Moby Dick Alien is moaning and crying… I feel bad for her. Why is it a her? I don’t know. Did they say it was a her? Or did I just call her a her because I felt like it? LOL.
How the fucking hell are they going to crate this big behemoth animal out of there.
Jack touching the thing just somehow makes me t hink of how he will look as the Face of Boe, and in some recess of my brain it’s him touching himself in the future, and it’s beautiful… I guess it’s the brown-ness or something.
Now listen. I don’t doubt that Gwen loves Rhys. I just… I don’t think she loves him the way he deserves to be loved. I don’t think she loves him enough. I think Rhys is like, her best friend. Her best friend that she can’t stand to lose, even if she doesn’t love him the RIGHT way. Because she loves him because he’s safe, and he’s there for her, and he’ll take care of her, and she’s selfish but more because she’s young than because she means to be.
Haha, Ianto. Ianto makes me giggle this season.
Gwen is so impetuous. She needs to think before she acts more. Use your noggin, Gweneth.
I want Owen to rescue Tosh. I mean, he can rescue all of them if he wants to, but mostly I want him to rescue Tosh and hold her for a while.

Aw. Jack’s upset that it’s going to die now. I think he can literally feel her pain when he touches her. I wonder if Jack’s/Boe’s intuitiveness came when he was still in Jack’s form… and not just in the form of Boe.
Awwwwwwww. Owen’s sorry that he killed her and Tosh put her hand on his shoulder like she was going to do earlier but didn’t and he GRABBED HER HAND AND THEY ARE SO IN LOVE AND IT WILL HAPPEN BECAUSE I DEEM IT SO I SAY THEY ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
