So I watched this movie the other day solely for shallow purposes, and that shallow purpose was this: James Marsden is incredibly, incredibly fine. He's so gorgeous. He's just damned pretty. The movie is
The 24th Day, and it turns out that in it he plays a gay dude. And when I figured that out I was so down for watching that movie. I started watching it, waiting for the yummy slash to come, and it never came. There wasn't even a kiss.
What came instead was an incredibly, incredibly good movie. And who knew? James Marsden is a damn fine actor too! I mean it, this movie was made from a play (that should tell you how good it was, I did freakin' research on it, lol) and 90% of it takes place in one room, and it's very talky. It's all about the acting and both James and Scott did wonderful jobs at it, but James really shone. Shined. Uh. He was great, is what I'm saying.
So if you can find that movie, rent it. Don't expect it to be a Gay Film, and don't not rent it because it's a Gay Film and you're not into that. If you're looking for the sex, it's not there. What is there is a well told intense story that actually manages to fuck your mind so that you both sympathize with the victim AND the enemy. To the point that you're not even sure who's the victim anymore.
I don't want to say anymore about it for fear of ruining the awesomeness of the plot, but get thee to a video store, or a movie download community, and see it. (Email me at khohen1@livejournal.com if you want to download it because I can tell you where to find it.)
In the meantime, because I babbled to Amy about the goodness of the movie and the prettiness of James Marsden, and also because he's just so darned pretty that he deserves it, I've compiled a picspam...
