I'm reading the comment threads on the Flash movie that's scheduled for 2008 on who thinks who should be cast, and oh my god, people are so funny.
Most people seem to be working on the assumption that Flash will be the Wally West incarnation, and I think that's making a big difference because I keep seeing "maybe as Barry, but not as Wally" and "but only if it's Wally" and I'm not entirely sure what the difference is because I'm only familiar with Flash from the animated Justice League (which is Wally West, yes?).
Ryan Reynolds as Flash (wins by a landslide), Michael Rosenbaum as Flash (he's probably voted for second most, mostly because he voices him on JLU), Dane Cook as the Flash (oh my god, I'd normally vote for Ryan, but Dane as the flash? OH MY GOD)
I gotta say though... there's suggestions for Noah Wyle as Flash. Uh? No. Also? Paul Walker. Who uh, can't act. I mean, he's pretty enough but... no. Plus I've never really seen him pull off the humor that I've seen in the Wally West Flash character, which admittedly has only been through JLU.
There's also suggestions for Matt Damon as the Flash, and ya know... no. I love Matt, he's an incredible actor, he's funny in an understated way, but... if it's gonna be Wally West you don't want understated. And also, he's a bit above the age bracket isn't he?
There's also a suggestion for Joe Flanigan for Flash, which makes me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants. I'm sorry, I love Joe, I love Joe's hair, but... oh my god. Are you serious? Please no. Just. No! LMFAO.
Here's my suggestion for Flanigan... Mighty Mouse. Picture it... FLAN-I-GAN TO SAVE THE DAAAAAAAAAY!
Will Smith as The Green Lantern. OHHHHH! YES! Also, several people are suggesting George Eads (nick from csi right?) as GL, and they might just be doing it because someone nom'd him for The Flash and they're saying "no, but GL maybe" but that seems to fit for me. He's definitely got the right looks, and I think he could do it actor-wise.
Now. Someone familiar with comics explain to me the personality differences between Barry Allen, Wally West, and Bart Allen. I only know Bart through Smallville, which may very much not be accurate, and Wally through JLU, which according to the comment thread on imdb seems to be accurate.
Apparently I'm all about the comics today. Now I need to download more of JLU, damnit. That's what made me fall in love with Flash. Well, that and Rosenbaum's voice. LOL.
