I think the point is that she was being trained by Luke alongside her cousin, Ben, and when Ben started going dark he taught her somethings, at which point Luke wiped his daughter's mind and dropped her on a desert planet (because he couldn't bring himself to kill her.)

And... I think that the prophecy that someone will be able to unite t he Dark and Light side of the force might be within her power by Episode 9.

naw, she was like 3 when she got dropped off. My bet is that Mara Jade never told luke she was pregnant.
