Even Spaceballs can't seem to make me smile at the moment.
It's Dick again.
Within the past two days we have had a few issues with Encoder 1, which I fixed. The Director/Head of Operations wanted the Encoder wiped and I personally did not want to wipe it until there was no doubt in my mind that I could not fix the problems that we were having with the equipment available to me. The problem was that the computer would freeze up and crash for no reason and had some major issues upon starting up. It was quirky, just like everything else around here and it was the clicking harddrive that let me know that that was the biggest part of the issue....I moved everything to the other encoder, just in case there was no going back, and then set myself to cleaning up the comp, fixing little issues and in the end the biggest problem we had was heat building up because of how long these computers are on with no reprieve.
I opened up the case, cleaned it out with pressurized air, and then set a fan (box fan) pointing directly into the computer itself and...low and behold she was fine. Encoder 1 was working just like she always had....
So I told the person who was working Master Control that night to sit by, work her out, see what happens and we could go from there. She was still fine, working beautifully....
Dick, who had not been told at all to do the wipe, I hadn't even given the go ahead for it....I told him that the Encoder was fine, be patient with it just like any other computer and things would be golden.
I come in this morning to work?
It's been fucking wiped.
I hadn't backed up the programs and some of them we don't have the discs for anymore.....
Should I kill him? God knows I want to....I want to know why he did it first, I want to see what his explanation is...and if this was the Director trying to control Master Control again without going through me....I am going to raise nine kinds of fucking hell because I have already told my boss that I wont put up with it and I wont stand for it because he has NO real CLUE about the job and when it comes to Master Control it is none of his goddamn business.
