Narrated Abu Hurairah (r.a.): Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W.S.) said, “Five are regarded as martyrs: They are those who die because of plague, abdominal disease, drowning or a falling building *etc., and the martyrs in Allah’s Cause.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Narrated Anas bin Malik (r.a.): The Prophet (S.A.W.S.) said, “Plague is the cause of martyrdom of every Muslim (who dies because of it.).” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Narrated ‘Aisha, the mother of the faithful believers, (r.a.): I requested the Prophet (S.A.W.S.) to permit me to participate in Jihad, but he said, “Your Jihad is the performance of Hajj.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

* Muslim pilgrims who have died in a stampede or suffocated while performing Hajj purely and sincerely for the sake of pleasing Allah alone will Insha Allah be among the martyrs, and Allah knows best.
