"Kingdom Hearts rapes FF/Disney!"

...I've seriously seen this said. :/ I don't get it. What character have they raped? I've seen changed backstories, but the character itself is the same.

Selphie is still a hopeless romantic. Wakka is still a blitzball-playing but lovable doofus. Tidus is still naive while wanting to be the best. Leon is taken from about the middle of his game, when he's begun to realize teamwork is necessary, thus his "I work alone" attitude is already absent. Aerith is still the caring and cheerful individual who just seems to know things. Yuffie is as hyperactive and full of herself as ever. Hell, that's JUST the FF characters I care to mention.

And the Disney? Pretty much taken from their movie, which is played in fast forward, or a section is taken and played, and the characters are entirely canon to that part. It's not like they're changed all that much.

So, what's going on?

Character raping is when you make Xemnas helpless or Saix a puppy. It's when you make Marluxia a flaming gay moron who talks like a valley girl. It's when you make Demyx hate music. It's when you turn a character so inside-out on themselves they don't even begin to resemble the character.

It is NOT altering a backstory in an alternate universe, so that it FITS that alternate universe--especially if it's done right. Another thing that annoys me, of course, is people who claim alternate universe just so they can replace a character in-game with their OC who happens to only be a recolor of said character with a new name. (I can name a girl on Photobucket who constantly recolors Sora x Kairi art to replace Kairi with Andrea, a brunette blue-clothed Kairi).

Tl;DR: Character raping is not twisting backstories to fit an alternate universe, but instead twisting a character beyond any recognition.

final fantasy, disney
