Why is AU!Vexen with an abusive lover in the first place?
We all know the lack of authorities in fanfic, but jesus christ on a pogo stick.
**PERSONAL PERCEPTION ALERT**
Consider it, Vexen has a lot of pride and a massive sense of self importance; it's unlikely he'd put up with a partner treating him like crap and degrading him.* He also seems rather found of self preservation and would be likely GTFO ASAP if the situation was bad.
Of course, emotional and psychological abuse** is an entirely different story and for another rant another time since the fics I'm ranting about generally focus primarily on physical abuse.
*unless of course said abusive partner has the backing of/is someone who can and will kill you if you step out of line or send an entire organization after you if you desert.
**and never a good idea if you don't have some grounding in at least basic psychology.
