If I can learn to do it, YOU can learn to do it

Dear Fanartists:

I enjoy the fact that you like Leon enough to draw him. I enjoy the fact that you decided to make an homage to FF8 with Leon. However, despite our common interests I do NOT like the fact that you used Squall as a reference for Leon. Leon is RLY OLD ICK twenty-five; Squall is jail-bait seventeen. Teenagers and adults DO NOT LOOK ALIKE.

1. Contrary to popular belief, Leon does not have the same black/red/white/silver color scheme as Squall.

-His jacket and seven of his seventeen belts are navy, as illustrated in my crap drawing here. Granted, the darker parts can be mistaken for black, but the rest is clearly several shades lighter. Four of the belts are on his gloves, and they are clearly visible against the black.

(PLEASE ignore my silly notes and Leon's lack of a face DX. It was a reference picture I drew a little while ago when my friend decided he wouldn't mind cosplaying with me at Fanime--so I guess bits of this rant would apply to cosplay as well.)

-Two of his hip belts are red, NOT brown--as are the arm-belts; two are black, NOT red OR invisible; and the smaller belt on Leon's left that holds up the lower black belt--yes, that funny little stripe on the belt with the big cowboy-grade plate buckle which you probably thought was a mistake--is black as well. What better use for a belt than to hold up ANOTHER belt, hmm?

2. Leon's sleeves come down almost to his elbows--not to the middle of his bicep. Since Leon has no stick-skinny arms to compensate for like Squall does, they are fitted and only a bit loose. Otherwise, Leon cosplayers would single-handedly cause cows to become an endangered species.

3. Very important: Leon does not have the same body proportions as Squall. His legs are less impossibly long and skinny because his torso is longer. I assume that he grew into his adult height a bit late, so now his legs are just noticeably long and skinny. (Judging on the length of Squall's legs at 5'7", Leon is definitely 6'... or a couple inches short anyway.) The difference between Squall and Leon--besides length of hair--should be clear even without color (or a face?) as illustrated here, no pun intended.

4. His pants are not screamingly tight. They are fitted, and it is not the same thing. Also, they are not baggy, they are slightly loose, which is also different. But, you know, both ways work perfectly fine with me as long as they've got all the details on it. ...Unless they are so tight there is no possible way I can write off the question:

5. Where the fuck do you get off giving Leon WOMAN-LEGS?! With CURVES and SPACE BETWEEN THE THIGHS and LACK OF MUSCLE DEFINITION? For Pete's sake, you can't draw Leon with a reasonably masculine chest and then draw skinny curvy girl thighs (ICK!)--manliness does not stop below the waist!
