Today I was bored and decided to search for some Final Fantasy V fic in the Pit, hoping I was more lucky this time (most of the results last time were novelizations (don't get me wrong, I like them myself... but you know there's something wrong when most of them make up the fandom).
Nope, same stuff... except for one (okay, I lie - four, but didn't interest me much as this one). A crossover with Kingdom Hearts. Why not? I thought. The summary looked good (even it had a pairing, which was Bartz/Lenna I prefer Bartz/Faris, but I could handle it), so I clicked on it expecting equal awesomess.
... Boy how wrong I was.
First of all, it was well-written as I expected from the summary, but the characterization... oh god it failed. Very hard. Bartz was acting like a idiot (he isn't!), Lenna bitching all the time (what the fuck?), Faris talking like a stereotypical pirate (just because she is one that doesn't mean she should talk like that kthnx), and Krile... well, Krile wasn't there because ghost!Galuf murdered her. Though there were lots of Krile-bashing, oh yeah (because she totally deserves it by replacing Galuf, right?).
Bottom line: learn other fandoms' canon well before crossing them.
