A thought or two on Aerith/Aeris
Hay, fandom?
Um, I just wanted to briefly talk about Aerith. Just for a second, really.
I realize that Aerith isn't the strongest person physically. I also realize that in Kingdom Hearts, she didn't do a lot to support Sora and his party with fighting and all that- especially in KHII, where she just sits around and waits for Cloud.
However.
Ah, in the first Kingdom Hearts? Yeah, she did all the research to piece together the Ansem Reports found on varying worlds. She's obviously smart, and can see connections clearly. And you, fanbrats, (general *you*, of course) can't tell me that those didn't help- at least somewhat- along the way. Besides which, she also gives you the strongest version of Cure- this girl knows what she's doing with her magic.
CoM? Despite being a memory of the real girl, fake!Aerith kind of knew what the deal was with Sora. She suspected that things weren't right, and told him such. Again, she's plenty smart- even as a fake...memory...type person.
KHII, her role was even less pronounced (since she obviously has nothing to do but wait for Cloud[/sarcasm]), but she could still hold her own.
Remember Squall Leon having trouble uploading the virus to the MCP? Aerith figured that out right quick, didn't she?
Never mind the fact that Aerith was right in the front lines of the big heartless battle towards the end of the game. I could have sworn I saw her healing Yuffie with Cure, but maybe that was just my imagination. And I don't think that I'm going out on too far a limb to assume that she was fighting along the rest with some kickass magic, even if it's not shown. She's not useless.
Anyway, just my two cents on the matter. Please, please, please stop calling her useless, weak, or dumb. This really isn't a serious rant, it's just...kind of annoying to see after a while. I'll go back to lurking, I promise.
tldr; Enough with the Aerith bashing, already. She gets enough of it in the FFVII fandom, for christ's sakes.
p.s. I'm in total agreement that her VA sucks, but that has nothing to do with her character/personality, okay?
p.p.s. I'm having leon/aerith withdrawal. Someone please hook a girl up with some good fic/art. :(
