AX meetup - the results!
Even though other cool dudes have already beaten me to it, I thought I'd give a little blurb about the KHFFR meet-up at the con. It was, I believe, one of the better parts of the con! XD
First off, I give MANY apologies to people that intended to show up but somehow missed us! It was a bit chaotic and without knowledge of an exact number of people coming, I'm afraid we left someone behind. D: So sorry!
Either way, we gathered together and headed down to the nearby Islands for dinner. It was an hour and a half wait, but really, that's to be expected at a popular restuarant during a convention at dinnertime when you're trying to seat 11 people. So we chilled on the grass in cosplay and talked about memorable fanfictions both awful and good, and discussed pairing preferences of all shapes and sizes! Some also bought chocolate from small children. XD; We lost two before going in to eat (lazzchan and ettezag), but finally managed to get in and get our food!
Here's the picture yuukihikari posted before, but with names attached! I hope I got everyone's names right. If anyone else out there has pictures of posing with the Play Arts figures, please share them!
During dinner, our discussion continued! I actually failed to print out Liquid Fire before coming to con (it was crazy trying to prepare for it...) so there was no actual badfic dramatic reading. But that's okay, as instead there was mostly just talk on the games and general fandom love. It was terrific fun!
Even after dinner, a few of us met up again the next day at the KH cosplay gathering, where there were some great costumes! That night, we also got invited to yuukihikari's room for playage of Final Mix and Re: CoM! Much fangirling and outright screaming over the insanity of boss battles ensued. All in all, the gathering went swimmingly, and hopefully we can do meet-ups of a similar nature in the future! :D
I suppose I can tack on a quick rant here, too: I, along with voodoobob, encountered our first real live fanbrat in Artist's Alley, and it was very much a blood-pressure rising experience. When voodoobob tried to show said girl three tarot card prints of Sora, Kairi and Riku as a set, the girl proceeded to gag and launch into a long Kairi-bashing diatribe on how Kairi was stupid, whiny, useless and how much better the game would be without her.
We made the mistake of arguing with her. D:
Needless to say, we all went away frustrated and voodoobob lost a customer. I suppose the moral of this story is that fanbratty behavior is 10x worse in real life than it is on the internets. Also, while it is a stupid idea to scare away customers, it is still not as stupid an idea as it is to bash a character for self-admittedly shallow reasons. Plz to be going home and rethinking your life, kthx.
P.S.: ettezag, I HAVE YOUR CAMERA CASE. DDD: I guess it got mixed up in my stuff at the cosplay gathering! I don't know how I'm going to get it to you...but just wanted to let you know that I have it here!
