Non-rant: Anime Expo meeting follow-up post #2
OKAY. I know it's been awhile, but here's an update on the AX stuff.
I was an idiot and didn't book hotels as soon as I should have. X( Quitting my old job and starting a new school kinda made me push all that to aside, but guh, 'twas still dumb of me. Either way, the Westin is no longer an option at this point.
After a bit of researching, another decently close hotel was found: the Holiday Inn, which is not as close as I would've liked (it's about a mile away from the con center) was the next best option. There's an occasional on-call shuttle service; otherwise it's just a bit of a walk to and from each place.
As of this point I have booked one room at the Holiday Inn for three nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday night) with the advance payment option, which is non-refundable. I know I have four people including myself in that room so far. While it's not 100% certain yet, we can tenatively squeeze in two more. lazzchan is also booking a room in the same hotel; she also has four confirmed, and space for possibly two more.
So what does this mean? It means there are tenatively four open spaces for one of two rooms in the Long Beach Holiday Inn, if people need them. If you really need a place to stay and were banking on rooming with KHFFR peeps, now is the time to speak up! Again, these spots are tenative, and by "spots" we really mean "space to sleep on the hotel room floor."
If I had the money, I would, but I just can't afford to book extra hotel rooms right now that I won't even be staying in. :P So if anyone else can at all book another room and are willing to house KHFFRers, now is definitely the time to do so! Here's the hotel info for you to book, if you're able:
Start here, and list the city as Long Beach. Ask for the nights you need (anywhere from the 28th-2nd or the 29th-2nd) and ask for a four-person room. If you list more than four people, it'll tell you to choose more than one room. The hotel you'll want is the one on 1133 ATLANTIC AVE. It's within about a mile of the con center.
The cheapest rate is the DELUXE ROOM at the advance rate, which will be about $400 total for three nights in a four-person room. However, advance rate means you must pay everything now. There are also rooms available where you can pay later (lazzchan booked one of these rooms just now) but they're a bit more money.)
So if you really need floor space to curl up with a sleeping bag, say so now! If you're able to book another room and share with others, also please say so now! Hopefully between a few rooms, everyone who needs it will have a place to stay!
Also, at least from the last polls, it seems to main KHFFR meet-up will be Saturday the 30th at lunch. I'll post more of the actual fun stuff once hotels are a bit more settled. I'm looking forward to it! XD
