Well folks, your fellow mods
princeali_m_fan,
alba_aulbath,
yume_no_kage and I have been talking online, and we realized we all agreed on a few important points. We'd like to speak our minds for once, so please bear with us!
We know this has been ranted about before, but really, there's a good reason for it. So many SoRi and AkuRoku fics are OOC and badfic because none of those characters are gay. Want proof? It's right there in the canon.
Riku spends pretty much all of his time in KH1 trying to find and then fix Kairi, not giving much of a care what happens to Sora. And yes this was before he got possessed by Ansem. Even during KH2, Riku helps Sora very specifically from the sidelines. The first person he lets pull down his hood? Kairi! There really are no actions Riku takes in any of the games that scream "I AM GAY." And let's not even get started on the "debate" on whether or not Sora's gay. Donald and Goofy pretty much confirm that. So, please stop with the claims that either of them are gay. It just doesn't work, and it isn't in character for them in fanfics.
As for Axel and Roxas? Hate to break the fandom's heart, as it were; but no, they're not gay either. This may come as a shocker to some, but "best friends" does not automatically equal "screwing each other senseless." They wouldn't even have had the time to be gay, considering there's barely a year between Roxas being formed and then rejoining Sora. Whatever you may say about Axel's hips not lying, Roxas certainly wasn't gay enough to stick around for all the fabulous buttsex they were supposedly having. And by the way, Axel definitely wasn't gay enough for Roxas to get turned into a Dusk for him.
So no, canon pretty much contradicts the whole "gay for each other" deal fandom has. And as mods, we'd appreciate it if the people would stop defending it as if it were canon. There's more than enough comms on LJ doing that now; we don't need to add another to the pile.
Considering all that, we as mods are going to start cracking down on this sort of OOC-supportive behavior. We've got a new list of rules for you guys to follow under the cut, and we suggest that those individuals who will jump up first to defend their "obvious gayness" give the rules two or more reads.
