(Non-rant) AX Follow-up #2 - Hotels
Another AX meeting post; please excuse the spam!
Most importantly: hotels. After asking around a bit hooray for working at a travel agency... these are the two best bets I can see. Most everything else is already sold out, yikes!
The biggest thing that I'd like to have worked out quickly is whether one or two rooms needs to be booked. I know that at least four are pretty definite and another five said they wanted to split, so I'm counting that as nine or in that area. That's a lot for one hotel room, so I'm thinking two rooms might be a better idea. However, I don't want to book two rooms if a lot of people can't make it and suddenly leave the others with a biggier share to pay.
Also, these are all for three nights: June 29th-July 1st.
The prices "per person" are not per night; they're for the entire stay. :3
- The Long Beach Holiday Inn is $112.00 a night plus tax. It's within walking distance of the con center, and the cheapest thing I've seen. However, it must be booked now as an advance purchase, with no changes. This is a bit ehh for me, as again, if people back out it makes the rooms unchangeable. However, it is the cheapest option.
One room split between nine: $38.00 total per person (plus tax)
Two rooms split between nine: $75.00 total per person (plus tax)
- The Westin is one of the con-sponsored hotels, and is the cheapest one considering room size. (Anything from a double to a quad). The price is $139.00 per night (plus tax, I assume). It will also include a voucher that can be used at the big con events, such as the AMV contest or Masquerade. However, the vouchers will only be given to names that are listed as registered at the hotel, so if anyone more than four people is in a room, they won't get a voucher.
One room split between nine: $47.00 per person (plus tax)
Two rooms split between nine: $93.00 per person (plus tax)
Basically, I need people to tell me what they would prefer in terms of hotels so I can start looking into which hotel to sign up for. The sooner you let me know, the sooner a hotel can be secured!
Best way to let me know is over AIM; my screenname is LynxGriffin (original, I know!) and I'm online after 6:30 pm West Coast time, or anytime this weekend. Email is also good: comixgirl AT hotmail DOT com.
Also, if we do decide to get two rooms, it would be great if another person would be willing to put the room on their card, as my credit limit can only handle so much. :x People can pay room-purchasers back however they want (PayPal, check, cash, firstborn child...) anytime before or during the con, I think.
Just as long as we know how the hotel situation will go over ASAP, it shall be good! I'm looking forward to the meet-up! XD
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to do the Disneyland day this year, as the logistics of it will be too difficult to coordinate for everyone. D: Damn you AX, for not being in Anaheim this year! However, a lunch meeting, badfic reading and other stuff should be more than enough to entertain! XD
