A little while ago, I completed a Flash paperdoll of Kairi and posted it on dA. Yay! Happy fun times, right? Well, a couple days ago I received this Very Relevant Comment:
"awesome game....i hate kairi though...."
"awesome game....i hate kairi though...."
Not an inputting error. She double-posted.
Right. That's... incredibly helpful, thanks. I can't tell you how much I, a very obvious Kairi fan, needed to hear that this random person hates Kairi even though they liked my game. That's great, thanks for sharing.
Of course, as annoying as that was, it's not the main point of this rant. That was just how it started. I replied back to her (you'd think I'd learn to stop doing that) to try and point out how pointless that was...
Me: "Well, then, you don't have to play it, do you? :/ What's the point of commenting on a clearly Kairi-centric submission to say that you hate Kairi? Are you trying to change my mind?
And please watch the double-posting."
Her: "sorry about the double post but i did like the cloths and the grafics just not kairi. there for i wanted to coment on the grafics(plz dont say any thing about my spelling) and no i would never i try to change someones opinan."
Me: "Well, I'm glad you like the work I did. Thank you. I just don't get why you felt it was necessary to point out that you don't like Kairi. It's just... it's so unproductive. O_o"
Her: "thats the thing for me it doesn't have to be."
"thats the thing for me it doesn't have to be."
"thats the thing for me it doesn't have to be."
Okay, wait. Hold on. Stop the bus.
"For me it doesn't have to be"?
Unless I've grossly misunderstood - very possible, I'm not fluent in Fanbrat - what she said (three fucking times after she'd already had double posting pointed out to her) was that for her, it doesn't have to be unproductive and rude to irrelevantly talk about how she hates Kairi to someone who obviously does not.
Even though it's expressed in such a way that it serves no real purpose, as it's not trying to initiate a discussion about the merits and demerits of Kairi as a character, or start any kind of useful or interesting conversation.
Even though, when expressed in that way, all it really does is upset the Kairi fan, and accomplishes nothing else. The very definition, in fact, of unproductive.
None of that matters! It's not unproductive! Because for her, it doesn't have to be!
I'm sorry, no. No. Good manners are not dishes spread out on a buffet table. You don't get to pick and choose your own etiquette. You just don't. It does not work that way.
You fail, fanbrat. You fail with most magnificent failure.
I think I liked it better when I was a speck on dA and nobody there knew I existed. I got fewer idiots back then.
kairi-bashing,
