While I'm all for educating budding fic writers on things to avoid when writing fanfic,
eternal humiliation does not seem to be the correct answer. Especially when there are repeat authors in there.
Yes, one of them writes a blatant Mary Sue (who is apparently based on some RL friend of hers) series and bad self-inserts and has a long ass profile that nobody gives a damn about. You don't have to archive every single one of her MS/Insert fics.
And this person writes some half-decent fic. They're not spectacular or anything, but she has a good grasp of grammar and spelling, although there is way too much dialogue and the plots are admittedly boring at times. I actually think that with a beta or and some CC, provided she listens to the suggestions, can be a pretty good author. Have you guys even checked out the ones that don't feature MS/Inserts?
You claim your C2 is not for insulting authors, but when you put up only the worst for everyone to see, suddenly, all their good characteristics are nulled and now nobody is going to help them. Everyone will improve if they commit their writing. Everyone has written something bad over the years, whether we put it up for others to read or not. I have. Everyone else probably already has as well.
Here at rant communities, we just need to get things off our chests. Most of it is just to blow off steam and we later forget about them after we've had our say. But the C2 is a different story. These fics will be forever remembered as crap, and by association, the authors will forever be remembered as crap. For many, that is the case, but others will get better and learn from their mistakes. Don't ruin their internet-careers forever.
