Alright, so where the HELL are the actual teachers?

Where are the lectures on fighting, shutting up, drugs/sex, and so on? Sometimes, there are points when a teacher will speak and students will sneer and make fun of them. When a teacher gets mad though, students don't generally snicker - and yes, this does include Axel. He may be a back-stabbing, sort-of bastard, but I'm under the impression that ( Read more... )

The thing about high school fics and snarky students is...as far as I can tell wishful thinking on their parts, what their sissy little selves would like to do but are way too pussy to actually act out.

I'd just like to add that I was the nerdy little chick who actually liked to -gasp- talk with her teachers and made friends with them. It was the front office I loathed with a passion. XD;

It's SO TRUE. And it makes me groan every single time it comes up in a high school fic.

Teaching is an extremely tough, often thankless job where you work more hours than just at school (and no, you really don't get summers off). They're the first to get blamed when a student isn't doing the work, or the district/state/government is asking them to spend two months of valuable teaching time on pointless standardized tests making their own demands.

No, I don't come from a family of teachers and have two best friends in teacher-training right now. Why do you ask? :D;;

As a pre-school teacher, WORD to your rant. Really, if it wasn't for the love I have for my children, I'd have quit a long time ago.

I can't even imagine how hard it'd be to teach to a group of pre-teens or teens O_O.

And this is why my 10th grade English teacher adored me. My class had the attitude of 7th graders. It was totally ridiculous.

Same here. All my years in school, I just remembered being in one of the loudest, disrespecting classes ever. Our English teacher at one point, threatened to make us run until we puked. He was one of my favourite teachers, though. :( Nice Funny fellow; he could make class really interesting and fun. Pretty philosophical, too.

The thing, usually no one likes teachers unless they're goofy and fun in some way. I admit, I do prefer a fun teacher (all my favorites are fun), but when the class just tries to manipulate everything or tries to flirt with the teacher,it gets...really, really weird.

Most definitely. Kids can be really mean. In middle school, these kids made fun of a teacher for crying. Know the ratemyteacher site? I personally have never had her as a teacher, but talk about being cruel.

I'm quite lucky that all my teachers at the moment are great! Although my english class has the most annoying people ever.

If ever were to act out fantasies in a fic, I'd be throttling my peers, not the teachers...
