You make me feel like murdering a fanbrat.

Hey, fanon! Guess what!

"You make me feel like I have a heart" is NOT a canon line!

First of all, nobody ever actually says that in the canon. Axel says something like it, but he never spits out those exact words.

Don't believe me? Well, here it is. (And here's the obligatory spoiler warning, which applies for the rest of the rant.)

What's more, it is ( Read more... )

canon, axel

...... *sighs* Aggggh. That line is so abused. It's like... permanently bloody. ;_; *is not makes sense at 3:33 AM* I would like a fic once, just once, where a Nobody actually doubts the usefulness of having a heart. *GASP* That's what my Zexion!muse is doing at the moment, and we're going to go hide now for even daring to think of the idea. DX

Your last line is love, though. X3

I like the idea of a "permanently bloody" line. That seems like a fanart waiting to happen. If I could draw, I'd be plotbunnied.

0.0 That's an awesome fic idea. You totally need to write that and link it here. I would absolutely LOVE to see that.

I've met people who don't know it. It saddens me much. ^^;

Actually, I'm planning to do something like that in my fic...

See, that is why I love you. You're always three steps ahead of the awesomeness curve.

All the best lines in KH2 have been pretty much bastardized. It makes me really sad. I'm super cereal.

Although... I can handle "Got it memorized?" if used in moderation. It's hard to find a good fic that doesn't kill it though. :( Aye, yi, yi, and now we're in for a whole new wave of fanbrats, what with the EU release and all. My poor, poor heart [dude, okay, weird, Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club's voice was totes in my head when I typed that. obviously, I have been watching too much of it.].

*exits dramatically*

Question: Is it okay if I have Hades use "Got it memorized?" in a mocking way before sending in a pseudo-zombie!Axel after Sora? Because I like Hades mocking people.

That would be all kinds of win. Go for it!

Did it in a chapter of one fic (points below), but I was wondering how people would respond to it.

What's more, it is never used as a confession of love or anything remotely resembling it. Axel never says it to Roxas, or to any other nobody for that matter. He says it to Sora, and he only says it when he's dying. That's not a confession of love. That's a "let me get this off my chest before I go not-so-gently into that great night" moment.

The justification I've seen for that BEING a love confession is that Sora=Roxas, so when Axel said it to Sora, he said it to Roxas, thus confessing his love because "making someone feel like they had a heart"=love and nothing else. If that's the case, then it should be true to the opposite. Roxas=Sora, and thus Axel confessed his love to Sora as well.

I really wish this line wasn't there sometimes. Seriously.

And your mood picture with phrase is cracking me up. I hear Sora saying that XD

See, the problem with that is, Sora and Roxas ARE NOT the same person. They share the same body, yes, but they are two completely different personalities. (The closest I can get to making a good example would be to bring in Yu-Gi-Oh, and I don't want to do that right now.)

Plus, if Sora and Roxas were indeed the same person and the line was intended to be a confession of love, Axel would have addressed Sora as "Roxas." The fact that he doesn't shows he knows Sora and Roxas aren't the same person. It would be a bastardization of his memories of his friend. No, those words were meant for Sora and Sora alone. (Come to think of it, I think Axel is the only Organization member who doesn't call Sora "Roxas.")

And I love that mood theme. ^^

I am gonna disagree with you on that first point... Roxas and Sora not being the same person and all...

It's true they're very different when they're acting independently. Organization!Roxas is extremely cold, even to his friends, whereas... well, it's pretty obvious Sora's not. But that's because Roxas had no memory of being Sora - if he'd come into being under normal circumstances, he probably would be a lot more like Sora than he is. How this is on topic is, they have different personalities, but Roxas still started out as Sora, and later returned to being Sora.

The only way you could make a YGO parallel is if they had started out as two separate people, which simply isn't the case. [If there was a YGO world, Yugi would have two hearts, for example.]

..... I really hope that made sense. ^^;

On an aside, I, too, love your mood theme. Where'd you get it?

My whole point was to say that Sora and Roxas have completely different personalities. Roxas may have originally started out as part of Sora, but he did develop differently for a time. Because of that, he does differ from Sora in terms of likes/dislikes/desires/goals/etc. My whole point of this was, Roxas and Sora are different personality-wise. It does not matter if they're sharing the same body, talking to Sora is not the same as talking to Roxas. In terms of personality, Sora =/= Roxas.

This entire argument works under the assumption that Roxas' personality, while still in Sora's body, is separate from Sora's personality.

I think I found my mood theme in an icon community. Gimme a bit and I can send you a link. ^^

Overall, agreed. Mind if I show off my little pet theory? If so, too bad, I'm going to anyway.

My theory is this: Sora's heart is so strong that even his Nobody can induce strong emotions in people that wouldn't otherwise have them [which is to say, Nobodies]. In my opinion, Nobodies' emotions are severely restricted by the lack of a heart, such that they'll be less intense or inappropriate for the situation. So when Axel says Roxas made him feel like he had a heart, I think he meant he made him feel normal again, like he was a whole person, and that's what he wanted more than anything. That's what I got out of it, anyway.

OOC!Axel icon brought to you courtesy of the usual interpretation of that line.

OMG, that's what I thought when I first played the game! Especially since the whole lacking a heart makes you feel incomplete thing and being rejoined with your other makes you feel whole because you are, but fandom has a COMPLETELLY different take on it that makes you think you're wrong ( ... )

Yup, totally agree with this thread. Especially Axel's Roxas-heart-crack (Now THAT'S a weird word). Sorry Axel, no more for you. >:0

However, something I want to know is why only Axel was affected? >.> Dun dun DUN.
