I ventured out of my cave in Stonier and went shopping this weekend, which was a welcome relief from classes, studying, and professors who think it's open mic night in their classes. I bought a few items, nothing extravagant, but I felt like I had come back to civilization and the greater world of capitalism.
The fire alarm has gone off twice in a 7 hour span. Last night at 3am, and this morning at 10. Both times it had something to do with our laundry room. It was last night, at 3am, with everyone barely dressed or in their pj's, that I noticed what an eclectic group we are in Stonier. One guy was randomly playing the guitar, and to his side were guys wearing very little, and in some cases, only a cowboy hat, playing with a nerf football. Then, over on the steps, was our preceptor (the one who looks remarkably like a pirate) wearing what looked like a really long smoking jacket, displaying proudly his nipple rings.
Today, my roommate Francisca and I went to check out the Chai House, and may I just say that while Cup o' Joe's was lovely, this place has it buried under a big pile of rubble. The chai is Big Train chai, and it was fabulous. They also sell Ciao Bella (if that name doesn't ring a bell to you, I feel sorry) gelato and sorbet. They even had the ice cream flavors that the groups from the Apprentice made, which were pretty awful. Francisca marveled at the happiness I was exuding by the mere act of sipping wonderful chai again. It could only be described as post-coital.
After, I had being toying with the idea of getting a cigarette case. Since I saw Keefa's, I thought they were sleek and elegant looking, not to say that smoking is elegant. We poked into the Tinder Shop, where their array and styles of hookahs is vast, and I purchased a silver cigarette case. So, now that I have it, I'm going to have to pick up a smoking habit. So far, I've filled it with my favorites, Black cloves and American Spirits.
Man, I'm starting to sound really superficial. Back to studying.
