Yeah, yeah, it's been a while. Mrs. Kheldar suggested that perhaps I should tell you all what I've been up to since last time. Well, I'll give you three guesses ( Read more... )

I'd have picked ballooning across Asia.... Maybe it's just me. ;)

In all honesty, ballooning across Asia does sound like a fun adventure. Unfortunately, this time it wasn't the case.

Ah well. I don't know about the winds in Asia, but I would imagine you wouldn't make it all the way across in one flight. You'd probably end up going back and forth alot. Not a bad way to go if you're in no hurry. And if you're independantly wealthy.... Of course, you'd have to leave your computer on the ground. ;)

Says who? We're in the age of laptops and satellite uplinks. :)

Independently wealthy sounds good. I'll get right on that.

Yes, but while many people seem to think you can drive a balloon, you're really at the whim of the wind. This leads to landings which can be hazardous to electronics. Although, if you're independently wealthy enough to fund such a trip, I suppose you wouldn't be too worried about busting your computer.

Hmm... Maybe I can make my millions by developing a balloon-proof computer.

...or a wind-proof balloon.

Oh, but what would be the fun of a wind-proof balloon? I mean, half of the adventure when you're ground crew comes from chasing the balloon all over the place trying to figure out where they're going to land. Heck, half the fun of being *in* the balloon is trying to figure out where you're going to land. Besides, what would be the challenge in the target competitions if you could just drive your balloon over the target, hover, and toss your marker?

As for the balloon-proof computer: balloons are good for getting away from it all. Why make it easier to take it all with you? ;)

You can have my computer when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

Ewww, then I'd have to deal with the rigor mortis and that's just disturbing. I think I'll stick with my own. Besides, if you died in a ballooning accident, odds are your computer would be rather disassembled. Or fried. Either way, it would be of more use as a paperweight.

See message above about developing a balloon-proof computer... :)

Well, if it happens, I think I deserve some sort of percentage in the profits for my services rendered here. ;)
