"At the High Court in Glasgow, Grenfell was jailed for a minimum of 17 years.
It emerged Grenfell, of Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, has a string of convictions for road traffic offences.
He was convicted of dangerous driving just months before the murder and was also banned from the road at the time.
Grenfell was jailed in 2010 for the reset of a stolen Nissan Qashqai and has a further conviction for assaulting a prison officer while behind bars."
It doesn't really 'emerge' though, does it? Rather previous convictions are known about by the legal teams if not the jurors, but aren't mentioned until after they have reached a verdict, less they prejudice it.
If it is indicated that someone has no previous convictions then does that mean, by inference, that not mentioning this is indicative of having previous convictions?
