Them: [On Runequest/Glorantha] Exactly. The work of Joseph Campbell was a big influence. And boy, does it show. I like this thread. Pleasantly nerdy.

Me: To be extra nerdy isn't it that Glorantha's 2nd age Godlearners express Stafford's dissatisfaction with Campbell's model of the monomyth, as downplaying the specifics of individual myths; that's what the Goddess Swap is about.

Yes, in other words. That more or less wraps it all up. I was at a gloranthan convention once, and played a boardgame about the GodLearners. I seem to recall it was a race to accumulate point before the universe was destroyed. I love it. Commercially? It would have been a disaster, since only about a thousand people worldwide would have known what the hell the game was about.
