Tried to open my Student Account yesterday and it was such a hassle! I took in a different letter than the one they wanted to prove my student status, so mum had to drive into Keighley and bring me the right one, and I was waiting for ages for the woman who was dealing with me to finish with another customer. They were asking me all this stuff about credit checks that I half understand (better than most do though, thanks to listening to that money guy when he is on Radio 2) and trying to make me keep my current account open as well as starting a new student one- not a good idea, in my opinion! Naomi, my adviser woman, was great though and said she would give me a ring today or to go see her on Friday to make sure everything has gone through smoothly. Which it better have done, or I am going to Natwest and getting my free Railcard!
I am so fucking excited about university! We spent £100 on kitchen and bathroom stuff at Matalan on Monday- pans, utensils, tea towels, waste bins etc- and tomorrow we are going to Leeds to get me some tops to go with the brown trousers I got in the Oasis sale yesterday (£15 down from £40) and after that I need folders and stationery.
I have also been watching some funky little videos on the Faculty of Humanities website, with advice about food and money and Freshers' Week and registration- sounds like a lot queueing and hectic activity will be happening in my first couple of weeks.
Turns out that me and Josh are both in Lambert Hall (my first choice of accomodation) but on different floors, and I might possibly be in one of the flats of 11 people- my room number is 11- which could be quite annoying as far as cooking is concerned. At least I have an en-suite shower, sink and toilet though, I can't complain!
Ooh Nathalie just came round with an invitation to a dinner party at Emily's on Wednesday! I am going to make a dessert for them, or perhaps some tabbouleh, or probably both. I think this calls for profiteroles...
We were all emotional last time we had a gathering, and that was back in May- I think we will all be crying into our cocktails this time. I can't believe it has been so long since the last one, we have had exams and everything since then but it seems like only last week to me.
