Summary: Kate Lockley looked up at the sound of the bell in the front of the shop.
Kate Lockley looked up at the sound of the bell in the front of the shop. Sighing, she made her way up to greet or shoot the customer. You never knew in New York.
Kate had relocated after her failed suicide attempt, needing to escape LA and start over. She’d bought an antique shop, and set about learning as much as she could about the supernatural community. She missed LA, but New York was growing on her.
“How may I…” she started before seeing the man before her. In a smooth motion, she grabbed the crossbow beneath the counter and aimed at him. “Who the hell are you?” she demanded.
Standing before her was the spitting image of Penn. Of course, this guy now had a gun pointed at her… and was in the ray of light offered by the window. So not a vampire, but Kate wasn’t taking any chances.
“I’m Detective Jason Walsh, NYPD,” he answered tersely.
“Badge,” she ordered.
Gun not wavering, he fished out his badge one-handedly. She studied it, before nodding and lowering the crossbow.
“Sorry,” she apologized. “You look just like some psycho I tangled with back in LA. How can I help you?”
