Summary: Buffy and Samuel might make with the denying, but Dawn was on to them.
Dawn eyed Buffy’s boyfriend from across the room. They might both make with the denial and say they weren’t dating, but Dawn was on to them. She’d get Buffy and Samuel Cornick to admit it before tonight was over.
As soon as Buffy peeled herself away from his side, Dawn made her move.
“Wasn’t expecting to see you here,” she said, slipping into the space next to the Marrok’s envoy.
“Buffy invited me,” he answered with a smile.
“You know he and Buffy had a thing, right?” Dawn asked, gesturing at where Buffy was talking to Spike.
“She mentioned that,” Samuel said warily. “Why?”
“Spike doesn’t let go easily,” she answered solemnly, trying to keep a straight face. “I think he’s still carrying the torch for her. Especially since she’s not with anybody right now.”
Samuel’s eyes narrowed suspiciously and Dawn gave him her most innocent look.
A second later, Samuel quickly moved to where Buffy was finishing her conversation with Spike. Barely waiting for her acknowledgement, he leaned down and kissed her on the lips. The crowd hushed for a moment before the clapping and catcalls began.
Dawn grinned at the sight. Everyone in the pool totally owed her.
