Claims Table As soon as she could, Buffy sneaked out of the hospital ward of the palace. She was a long way from Sunnydale and demons that preyed upon sick children, but her hatred of hospitals was still the same as ever. She tried finding Erkan or Tiena but they had left for the day and she didn't want to alert the doctors of her escape. That's why she was standing on one of the various balconies, watching the fog rise from the plains when Obi-Wan found her.
"You shouldn't be outside of the hospital ward," he told her. Buffy turned around and leaned against the railing--not for support, may she add. She really was feeling a hundred percent. OK, maybe more like eighty-five, but still over fifty.
"I'm feeling tons better. It's not a big..." she began before a cough interrupted her. "Look, I'm fine. There's no need for me to go back there," she continued after the coughing had subsided.
"The only reason why Anakin and I didn't warn the medical staff here about said distaste for medical centers is because we assumed you would have enough sense to stay there," Obi-Wan sighed with a shake of his head. "Obviously, we were mistaken."
"Please. They're used to me by now. That's probably why nobody was watching over me," Buffy snorted. "If anything, there was a pool running to see how long it would take me to get out of there. I need to check with Tiena about that when she comes in tomorrow. She owes me half if she's the one who won."
"I wasn't aware your dislike of medical centers was this infamous, although it truly shouldn't surprise me," Obi-Wan said, coming to join her on the balcony. The sun's last rays were just touching the horizon, giving the landscape before them an slightly ethereal glow.
"I spoke with Erkan before Anakin and I traveled to Iego," Obi-Wan began, before Buffy interrupted him, a blush coloring her face.
"Um, yeah, he kinda already told me about that," she said with a small laugh. "I'm sorry about the whole threatening thing, but he gets into this overprotective papa-bear mode, and he's not big with the Jedi anyways, so don't take him threatening you too personally."
"That's reassuring," he replied with an eye roll that Buffy was sure he had stolen from her.
"If it makes you feel better, I think he likes you," Buffy offered with a shrug. "He actually said something somewhat nice about you when he came to visit me, which almost never happens. You should feel lucky."
"Indeed," Obi-Wan answered in a dry voice. He had never told Buffy about his brief meeting with the man she considered a father figure, back at the start of the war. He remembered vividly the older man's icy stare and the calm, polite threat in his voice, warning the Jedi that if something happened to Buffy, Obi-Wan best watch his back. Obi-Wan wouldn't go as far to say that the man had scared him, but Erkan's quiet warning had been chilling nevertheless.
"He cares a great deal for you," Obi-Wan stated quietly, to which Buffy smiled.
"He's not the only one," she teased playfully and giving him a sidelong glance which he pointedly ignored. Pushing herself away from the railing and grabbing his arm. "Come on, if we hurry, we might be able to snag some food from the kitchens before all the good stuff is gone."
