A/N: Well, this happened. I started off working on chapter nine of Fairy Tales & Happy Endings (which should be done soon, btw, since I'm about halfway through it), and then this popped into my head and wouldn't leave me alone, so... here it is. Enjoy. :)

It's nearly one in the morning when Emma finally makes it in from her patrol. She's exhausted, both mentally and physically, so much so that her vision is a little blurry around the edges and she can feel her shoulders drooping as she walks through the door. Her brain is already threatening to simply shut down from the overload of the day, but not even that will deter her from getting what she presently wants. She's got her mind set on taking a hot bath, something to relax the tension in her sore muscles away, and then settling into bed for a long, uninterrupted night of sleep. Tomorrow is her only day off, and she knows that if she wants it to stay that way, she'll have to turn off her phone, or at least put it on silent. She's got no problem whatsoever with that.
As Emma trudges through the house, her heavy footfalls landing with a dull thud against the hardwood floor, she notices almost immediately that something is off. It's subtle, and Emma probably wouldn't have noticed it at all if she hadn't been trained in the art of picking up on things like this, but it's enough to make her take notice, enough to make the little hairs on the back of her neck stand up. Emma stops in the middle of the kitchen, glancing to her left, and then her right. The house is empty. Emma knows this because Mary Margaret is always there to greet her when she gets home from work, always with a warm smile and an equally warm cup of cocoa, no matter how late she comes in, and tonight, she's nowhere to be found. It's a little odd, but it doesn't particularly bother Emma. What bothers her is, if Mary Margaret isn't home, why is there water running upstairs?
Emma slowly moves toward the stairs, careful not to make a sound as she ascends them. When she reaches the landing, the looks toward Mary Margaret's room. The door is open, as always, and Emma's previous notion that Mary wasn't home is confirmed. Then, Emma looks to her own bedroom door. It's shut tight, just as she left it, but there's light filtering out from the small crack under the door. That's definitely not right. Emma takes a few steps toward her room, and as she nears, she can still hear the sound of running water. It gets clearer and clearer with every step she takes.
When she reaches the door, she presses her ear against it and listens carefully for a few minutes, then she slowly turns the doorknob and pushes gently. The door creaks open, causing Emma to jump, just a little, and she silently curses herself for being so paranoid. Cautiously, Emma steps into the room, nearly on tip-toes. It takes a moment for it to sink in, for her eyes to adjust to the semi-darkness of her bedroom, but when it finally does, Emma finds herself at a complete loss. She takes a step further into her room and her mouth drops open at the sight before her--there are red rose pedals scattered about the room, on the floor, on her bed, in a trail that leads into the bathroom.
Emma follows the trail, padding softly across the lush carpet, careful not to step on too many of the pedals. She doesn't hesitate when the reaches the bathroom, just turns the knob and pushes the door open. She doesn't know just what she expected to find here, but it definitely did not involve Regina Mills. And yet, there she was, in Emma's bathroom, kneeling beside the tub, hand extended under the water, testing its temperature. She's wearing Emma's silk bathrobe, the one Regina bought her, and Emma's fairly certain she's not wearing anything underneath it. The thought alone sends a shiver down Emma's spine. Regina doesn't notice her standing there, so Emma takes a moment to steady herself, and then she clears her throat. Regina's head snaps up and she greets Emma with a breathtaking smile.
"Hi," Regina says, slowly rising to her feet.
"Uh, hey," Emma says, her eyes still a little wide in surprise and confusion. "What's all this?" she asks.
"I heard about the little scuffle you got into at work today. I thought you might want to relax after all that, and since Henry's staying over at a friend's house tonight, I decided to do this," Regina answers.
"And how exactly did you get in here?" Emma asks.
"Well, I talked to Mary Margaret and she--"
"Wait a minute. You talked to Mary about this?"
"Yes. Is that a problem?"
"No. No, it's not a problem. I just didn't think you'd want to involve her in our business, that's all. I mean, what if other people find out too?"
Regina just smiles. "I'm not worried about other people," she says, as she walks over to Emma. "I think your bath is about ready."
Emma nods. "So... you're not worried that Graham will find out?"
"Not in the least," Regina says as her arms wrap around Emma's waist, pulling the other woman close. She places a kiss to Emma's neck, letting her lips linger on cool skin for just a moment. She can feel Emma relaxing in her arms. "You look tired," she says as she pulls away to look at Emma again.
"Exhausted," Emma says with a sigh.
"Why don't you undress and climb into the tub, hmm? I'll be back in a minute," Regina says.
She untangles herself from Emma, rather reluctantly, and ventures off. Emma waits a few moments, then slowly begins to undress. Just as she's settled into the hot water in the tub, Regina comes back into the bathroom. She's carrying a glass of water in one hand, and in the open palm of her other hand, Emma spies two small white pills.
"Take this. It'll help you relax," Regina says, as she hands the pills and water to Emma.
"Aspirin," Emma says with a frown. "Do you have anything stronger?" she asks.
"No," is Regina's simple reply.
Emma swallows the pills, then chases them with a sip of water.
"Good girl," Regina says. She sets the glass of water down on the counter, then walks back over to the tub. "How is it?" she asks, dipping a finger into the water.
"Great," Emma replies, eyes fluttering closed as she sinks further into the water. When it just touches her chin, she stops, then opens her eyes and looks up to Regina. "D'you wanna join me?" she asks.
"You're supposed to be relaxing," Regina says, shaking her head.
"Please?" Emma begs, giving Regina her best puppy-dog eyes.
The eyes definitely do the trick, just as they always do. Regina gives in a bit too easily and begins to undress. She's well aware of Emma's eyes on her as she unties the robe and lets it slide down her body until it pools in a heap at her feet. Emma scoots up in the tub, allowing Regina to climb into the tub behind her. The blonde settles back down between Regina's legs and leans back, resting her head on Regina's shoulder and closing her eyes again. Regina rests her hands on Emma's stomach, gently tracing tiny circles around her belly button until she feels Emma shiver against her.
"Sorry," Regina whispers.
"No, it felt good," Emma says with a smile on her face.
Regina resumes tracing her pattern on taut abs. "I know you've had a rough few days," she says.
"It's not just me, you know," Emma says. "Things have just been a little crazy lately. It's the full moon, I swear."
"I know, but I've been worried about you. Not just for today. Last week, when the Inn caught fire and you ran in there, instead of letting the firemen do their jobs--I honestly didn't know if you were going to make it out. You scared me half to death."
"There were times when I thought the same thing, but here I am."
"And I'm glad you're here, but--"
"Regina, if this is your way of asking me if I'm okay, the answer is yes."
"I'm that easy to read, hmm?"
"Sometimes."
"Are you sure you're okay? I mean, you could have been killed and--"
"I'm fine. Really," Emma says, bristling a little.
Regina lets out a heavy sigh. She's silent for a moment, and Emma relaxes against her again, fingers finding and flexing against Regina's legs under the water. "I want you to end things with Graham," she says, all of a sudden.
Emma's eyes shoot open and she stares up at Regina. "What?" she asks.
"I don't want to share you anymore, Emma. I want you for myself," Regina says. "I can't stand to watch you with him anymore. It makes me sick," she continues.
"Regina--I don't know what to say."
"Just tell me you won't see him anymore."
"I thought you wanted me to. Remember the plan? So no one would know about us, especially not Henry? You said--"
"I know what I said, and it was stupid. I don't care about everyone else anymore, and Henry, well, he's a smart boy. I'm sure he'll understand. The past couple of weeks have made me realize that I can't lose you. I need you, Emma."
"Regina," Emma begins, turning slightly so that she can look at the the other woman. "Hey, I will always be here with you. I'm not going anywhere. And I will stop seeing Graham, if that's what you want. If that's what it takes to prove to you that I'm in this for real. I’ll tell him it’s over between us as soon as I get to work tomorrow. I'll pull him aside and talk to him about it,” she assures.
Regina smiles softly. "I love you," she says.
"I love you, too," Emma replies, placing a tender kiss to Regina's cheek. "Come on. I'm done here," she says, as she pushes herself up.
Emma gets to her feet slowly and carefully, then steps out of the tub. She grabs two towels from the shelf and hands one to Regina.
Regina stares down at her robe, still in a heap on the floor, and then glances to where the rest of her clothes are--folded neatly on one of the other shelves. "I don't have anything to sleep in," she says. "I guess my romantic evening wasn't completely flawless like I thought," she added, smiling sheepishly.
"Regina, the whole point of planning a romantic evening is not having to worry about clothes to sleep in. Trust me, you won't need it," Emma says, as she walks into the bedroom.
Regina, still wrapped in her towel, follows closely behind. It takes her a few moments to mentally register what Emma was getting at, and when the realization hits her, she can't help blushing just a little.
"Oh, you're so shy all of a sudden?" Emma asks, as she steps closer to Regina and leans up to capture her lips in a soft kiss.
Much to Emma's dismay, the kiss is broken just as quickly as it started. Regina is staring at her, silent and still, uncertain if she should let this go any further tonight. It certainly wouldn't be the first time she's fallen into bed with Emma against her better judgment, but for some reason, this time feels different. She feels like, since Emma has agreed to stop seeing Graham, their relationship has just started over and sleeping with Emma now would be like sleeping with her on the first date. And although it's a completely ridiculous theory, Regina can't help herself.
"Are you okay?" Emma asks, wrapping her arms around Regina to pull her closer. "Regina, what's wrong?" she asks.
"Nothing. I just--you were supposed to be relaxing. That's why I came here--to help you relax," Regina replies.
"You are helping me relax," Emma says with a little grin. She quickly turns serious again. "Regina, I want to be with you tonight," she says softly.
She's looking deep into Regina's eyes, holding her gaze steadily, and Regina can feel her self control slipping. Finally, she pushes her thoughts away and leans forward, capturing Emma's lips in a searing kiss that, when broken, leaves both women panting for breath.
"That's my girl," Emma says with a smile, as she backs Regina over to the bed. She grabs the top of the towel that is still wrapped around the other woman and undoes the knot, watches as it falls in a heap at Regina's feet. "God, you're beautiful," she whispers, as she kisses Regina again.
Regina has to sit on the edge of the bed to keep from falling down as Emma's hands roam over her body. Emma straddles Regina's lap, trailing soft kisses from cheek to collarbone to breasts, stopping momentarily to nibble gently on Regina's full lower lip. Regina's hands splay across Emma's back, perfectly manicured nails digging into flesh as Emma continues to allow her hands to roam over Regina's breasts and stomach.
Regina sucks in a sharp breath as Emma's delicate fingers dance around her breasts, causing her nipples to harden. She closes her eyes and drops her head back when Emma pulls one taut nipple into her mouth and gently sucks on it, biting down gently and then swirling her tongue around it to soothe the pain.
When Emma stops abruptly, Regina groans in protest. "Why did you stop?" she asks, her voice a little rough from her own arousal.
"Open your eyes," Emma says softly.
Regina's eyes flutter open and she gazes up at Emma. After a few moments, Emma leans down again and captures Regina's nipple between her teeth, causing the other woman to let out an involuntary yelp. Regina wants to close her eyes again, but fights back the urge to do so. She watches intently as Emma's right hand travels a familiar path down her body, dipping down between them and stopping just short of her center.
"Emma, please," Regina pleads hoarsely.
"Not yet," Emma says, shaking her head.
Regina growls in frustration, but that only makes Emma smile.
"Scoot back," Emma instructs.
Regina simply does as she's told. She scoots up the bed until her head rests against the pillows, and Emma crawls up her body to meet her. Emma rests one leg between Regina's, and in turn one of Regina's legs is nestled between her own. As she kisses Regina once again, she slowly and gently rocks back and forth, creating a delicious friction. Regina moans softly as she wraps her arms around Emma, pulling her tighter against her.
"Oh, God, Emma," Regina rasps.
Emma looks up, her eyes meeting Regina's, holding her gaze as she continues to rock back and forth, just a little faster. The sensation created is unbelievable, and Regina doesn't want it to stop, but it quickly becomes clear to her that Emma has other plans. Emma stops moving abruptly and Regina feels a little dizzy at the sudden loss of contact. And then Emma moves her hand down between Regina's legs, gently dipping a single finger into the warmth and wetness she finds there.
Regina closes her eyes for a moment, and when she opens them again, Emma has scooted further down her body. Now, the blonde places soft kisses around Regina's torso while her fingers dance over Regina's inner thighs, teasing. Regina can feel her heartbeat speeding up in anticipation, can hear the blood rushing in her ears, her own breath coming and going in little gasps.
"Emma, please," Regina pleads again, this time more urgently. She isn't sure if Emma doesn't hear her or if she's just ignoring her, so she tries again. "I need you," she says roughly, gasping as Emma's tongue finds a particularly sensitive spot.
Without a word, Emma moves back up Regina's body and she kisses her softly as two slender fingers find Regina's throbbing center. Regina groans and her legs fall open a little wider, giving Emma better access. Her fingers tangle in thick blonde curls as Emma increases the pressure of the kiss, kissing harder, tongue sliding more aggressively against Regina's. Emma's fingers move slow and steady, building up the perfect rhythm, bringing Regina closer to the edge.
It doesn't take long for Emma to have Regina moaning and writhing beneath her. She's close, so close, Emma can feel it. Sense it. She kisses Regina, hard and messy, and Regina moans into Emma's mouth. And just like that, Regina's coming apart in Emma's hands, breaking the kiss and crying out into the darkness. Fingernails digging into Emma's back, Regina closes her eyes tight and bites down hard on her lower lip to keep from getting too loud as her orgasm rocks through her. Emma's lips are on Regina's neck, dropping feather-light kisses on too-warm skin, as she gently strokes Regina down.
When Regina finally stops trembling, she pulls Emma up a little and wraps her arms tightly around her. "That... was... amazing," she says breathlessly.
"Mm-hmm," Emma says with a smile. "You are so sexy," she adds a moment later, gazing up at Regina.
"Tell me something I don't know," Regina says lightly, grinning.
"Hmm... I think I enjoyed that more than you did."
"Not possible."
"You need to come over to help me relax more often."
Regina lets out a laugh at that. "I would like that, actually. Very much," she says.
"Yeah?" Emma asks, trying not to sound too hopeful.
"Of course I would. I love spending time with you, now that we've gotten over the phase where we argue non-stop and then try to kill each other," Regina assures.
Emma scoffs. "Hey, you were the one trying to kill me," she says. At the stern look Regina gives her, she grins. "Just saying. Well, now you've got me all to yourself. No more Graham."
"No more sneaking around," Regina chimes in with a sigh of relief.
"Yeah. I like the sound of that," Emma says, resting her head on Regina's shoulder.
Regina tightens her arms around Emma and places a kiss to the top of her head. "I bet it's late," she says, stifling back a yawn.
Emma rises up on her elbows in order to glance over at her alarm clock. "2:47," she says. "Way passed my bedtime," she adds, holding back a yawn of her own.
Regina nods and then shivers as she catches a chill. "I didn't get to return the favor," she says with a little pout. Although she's not really sure if she could right now, not with the way she's already struggling to keep her heavy eyes open.
Emma kisses her chin. "Don't worry about me. You'll just owe me one," she says with a little wink that earns her a playful slap to the arm. "Come on. I'll find you something to sleep in, so you don't get too cold, if you get the bed ready," she offers.
"Deal," Regina says. She watches Emma scoot out of bed and head over to the dresser at the far end of the room, then musters enough strength to get out of bed as well. "Do you think you'll make it to work tomorrow? Or today, rather?" she asks, as she turns down the blankets and fluffs the pillows.
"I was planning on it," Emma replies, but now she's not so sure. "Will this work?" she asks, holding up a slightly over-sized black T-shirt that has SWAT written across the back in bold white lettering and E. Swan on the front above the left breast area in smaller white lettering.
"Since when did you join the SWAT team?" Regina asks, clearly amused.
"I'm a cop, remember?" Emma says with a smile. "Actually, I think I got this when I first got into the bail bonds business. One of the guys gave it to me," she explains.
"It's cute. You know, it's kind of sad Graham doesn't make you wear the uniform. I think you would look stunning in it," Regina says, waggling her eyebrows suggestively in Emma's direction.
Emma just rolls her eyes and chucks the shirt at Regina. "Put it on," she says, before heading into the bathroom.
Regina pulls the t-shirt on. It's large enough on her that it goes all the way down to her knees. She slips under the blankets and gets comfortable, and waits for Emma to join her. Emma comes out of the bathroom a few minutes later in a pair of red silk boxer shorts and a tight white tank top. She turns out the lights and climbs under into bed next to Regina, rests her head on the other woman's shoulder again. Regina runs her hands soothingly up and down Emma's back, gently lulling her off to sleep. Just before she falls asleep as well, she makes a mental note to repay Emma for such an amazing night as soon as possible.
