My Thoughts On Yaoi

There's not enough hours in the day for me to get into my train twins side fandom that much because there is SO MUCH CONTENT compared to other stuff I've liked, but I dip in so often by hitting the 'you might like..' section of Tumblr. One thing I noticed was that a lot of artists were posting borderline shippy content that was the next best thing ( Read more... )

I read years ago that females are slightly more common to be born due to the x chromosome being more common then the y? Something like that; I'm not gonna look it up, but thats the idea. The strict beauty standards mostly came from celebrity magazines, and in my experience women modeled themselves after famous or well-known people of the day (Ex. Jackie Kennedys hairstyle - if you look at some old tv shows of the 60's a lot of women had that look ) but the womens lib movement actually expanded fashion choices for women since they had to look sharp at the office as well as on the town, in their mind anyway. Then after it was commonplace standards were relaxed, and I'm old enough to remember people of both genders dressing way more formally back in the 70's and 80's. Now you have Casual Fridays, jeans to church, -- believe me, Nobody wore jeans to church when I was a kid.... and generally looser standards overall for everyone. If you watch some old movies, notice how men wore ties all the time in a lot of them. Not now.

Its great that women have come such a long way just in my lifetime and I view it more as progress then a problem to be solved as you infer. History is full of strange primitive ideas that people used to have about a lot of things and thank goodness most of those ideas and customs have been vanquished.

Absolutely women dont need men like they used to- my mom worked for 17 years then quit when she got married because my dad could support her plus us kids years later. Cost of living was way less of course; but that was the norm, and we're a better society because of the career opportunities women have now that werent there before. Only the most naive would believe otherwise, and their numbers are dwindling if not completely gone.
