There is nothing like doing a little canning when it's nice and cool to make you not hate summer for slipping away a little too early. It has in fact been slipping away since the moment we got back from the lake, which is fitting as every year the trip to the lake has marked the last bit of respite and summer before fall. Kym has an awesome recipe for canned gingered pears that I love love love.

also yes, I should have time at some point for tea this week, maybe tomorrow night?

Yes, I think tomorrow night would work smashingly (to the best of my knowledge). It's my late week at work, so would a 7/7:30ish time work for you?

You should make brandied cherries! My dad used to keep them in mason jars. When my niece Jessica got married (the first grandchild to do so...) I brought the very last jar of brandied cherries so Dad was present and we could all partake. I'd kept that jar of cherries for years just waiting for that special occasion. Brandied peaches are nice too!

DAMN! I wish cherries weren't already out of season here. Damn damn damn! Those sound mighty fine and are totally going on my list for next year!

I will need to get your recommendations on good brandies, as I know zilch in that department.
