Homework on V-Day, brotherhood, and other musings

I officially hate architecture. So Tiffany's studio professor scheduled a review for the day after Valentine's Day (today), which was bad enough. But it can be dealt with; we planned an evening out for this evening. A few days ago she found out that she has a site tour at 9 am Saturday morning. Okay, that sucks, too, but she said she'd just be tired. Well last night I went over to her apartment, and she said she had a bunch of work to do for her review, and it took until 4! So not only was last night completely ruined, but I doubt any of the rest of today will work out because I guarantee she'll be tired.

She's also missing formal for a conference she's attending in Miami. I'm not mad about that at all, though, because she got her ticket paid for by the American Institute of Architects, so I'd actually be even more disappointed if she didn't go to the conference. I'm still pretty bummed about it, though.

And on another depressing note about my relationship that's going oh-so-well, I'm having second thoughts about running off to the town of Tiffany's grad school. It has nothing to do with the relationship, but instead about job prospects. Tiffany and I both definitely want to move back to Atlanta when she's done with school. I don't think it's in our best interest for me, probably the primary bread-winner (we're both really traditional), to move away and come back after a couple of years. Instead, I think it's best that I get established and comfortable for those two years instead of switching jobs. Thoughts?

Watching the signup list for the house fill up makes me giddy and excited for next year. A whole crapton of the young folks are moving in, which is going to make things quite interesting. I'm actually moving back to my old room with one of my little brothers, C.W. Huzzah! But I think this is a microcosm of a new trend in the fraternity. After Nu class, for some reason it was hard to fill the house. Pretty much if you wanted to get in, you got in. I think Nu class just seemed very indifferent. But Omicron is PUMPED to get the chance to move in, and that's the exciting part. I think Omicron will be much more the future of the fraternity than Nu, and that's because they care more. I don't know if it was an issue with new member education or what, but they're doing a heck of a lot better. They just need to translate that desire to achieve into success for fall rush. With almost 20 people graduating in 2008, they need as many numbers as possible.

Tech's basketball team sucks this season. Last night's game against Clemson was just one more instance of where the team failed to click and failed to show up. I wish Crittenton and Young the best in the NBA, but I wish they had stayed. We're definitely missing them about now.

On the other hand, though, I am RIDICULOUSLY excited about football season. I know it's early, but with a pretty darn good recruiting class (and 2009 promises to be even better), a fantastic coaching staff, and a lot of young talent, despite our uber-crappy schedule it'll be a fun year. I'm so glad I have another football season as an undergrad. Paul Johnson, make this school proud!

Chad said his first word! He can say "giggle". And he's pretty darn cute while saying it, too.

I basically went to three concerts in a row earlier this week. Sunday night Tom Fink and I went to Van Halen, and that was such a kickass concert I can't even believe! They were into the crowd, the crowd was into the show, they rocked out, and it was just a lot of fun. Then on Monday a bunch of us went to Metalsome Mondays in the Highlands. For those of you who don't know, it's pretty much hard rock karaoke, but instead of a jukebox they have a live band. It was pretty much like seeing a concert, and I had a blast. I'm definitely going again. Finally, Tuesday evening Russ's band had a recording gig for WREK Radio in the Student Center that a few people showed up to, and that pretty much melted my face as well. There was definitely plenty of concert-going happening. I think I got spoiled.

Connect With Tech is this weekend! WOO! Please let me tell you how excited I am, though, to going back to being a host. It's less work and less of a time commitment, and I'll have more of a direct impact on kids' lives. That's what makes CWT worth doing. I can't wait.

Why haven't I graduated yet? I'm ready to be done.

That's all for now. Tootles!
