This has been a long week. Seriously.
First, last Saturday: I discover
this. That's right, it's a dwarven erotica anthology. I show it to the husband, 'cause I think that's a hilarious idea. His response? "Oh, you should totally do that. You already have the story all set up for it."
And I did too, damn him. The idea couldn't get out of my head, because the dwarves of the Bastard Prince world do have the perfect set-up for this. The plot writes itself. I look up names while waiting for people to show up for CAH.
Sunday: Pluto, my previous laptop, crashes. I had planned to spend the day working on my Dragon School story, since the point was to have it done by the end of February. SPOILER ALERT: I didn't work on it the entire week.
Monday: Further stupidity at work. We go computer shopping. All they have is Windows 8.
Tuesday and Wednesday: Continuing stupidity at work. We spend two evenings trying to figure out the new OS and get my programs and docs on there.
Thursday: Husband goes home sick from work, after feeling sick all week. (Or maybe that was Wednesday?) I am hand-writing the short story because I don't want to waste writing time trying to figure out how to make Cerberus, the new laptop, work.
Friday: Work decides that to "increase morale" we will now be allowed to wear casual clothing all week long. Even up on my floor. I overhear the manager saying this is the slowest he's seen it in 12 years. Note to self: update resume. If anyone has any sort of compliance/procedure writing/Hr-type office work, I might be interested.
I spend all Friday night finishing typing the story. I stay up later than is necessary to figure out manuscript formatting for short stories and send it in.
Today: Craziness in grocery shopping, dishes and a cold house later, I finally get back to Cerberus in the afternoon. I had hoped to be up and writing by 11am. I have both of my niece's birthdays coming up in the next two weeks, so I spend two hours online looking for gifts for them. Then I realize I should probably eat something, since supper won't be done until almost 8pm. (Slow cooker meal.) So now it is 20 to 4pm, and I'm just starting to write.
Yay me. :P
I'm actually kind of excited about the short story submission. I doubt it will get in (probably a bit lacking in erotic content and extremely little editing), but it would be awesome if it did. This would be the first official paid anthology I'd be published in, if it was.
Either way, I have a completed short story in the Bastard Prince world. I'm calling that an accomplishment. :)
