The Candy Spooky Theater @ Meguro Rock May Kan - 2/2/09

My first time seeing The Candy Spooky Theater in their home country, on their turf, where they are unquestionably in control. I was definitely very nervous, with no idea what to expect at all. To be honest I was reminded of lining up outside the Middle East in Boston in May 2007, because I felt those same unrelenting nerves as that first time ( Read more... )

Oh, I didn't realize they had a projection system at Blender XDDD Well of course a ton of bands will often project, say, their music videos onto their backdrop while they're performing (uh like Dir en grey ROFL), but this was actually, like, a legitimate slideshow with "credits" before and after both bands, so it was a bit different than anything I'd ever seen before and it was pretty cool! ^^ Especially since they're The Candy Spooky THEATER after all aaahaha *bricked*

Lol, as for anquettes: Basically at indies lives in Japan (I don't know about larger events or bands), when you hand in your ticket to get in, they'll hand you these little forms to fill in - we actually got some flyers and posters in addition to the anquettes but I don't know if that happens often - written by the bands asking a bunch of questions, sort of like taking a survey for a product I guess... probably what I like best about anquettes is they always start with "Which band are you here to see?" which I think would rule for US shows as well, because often times I'll go to shows not really to see the headliners, but rather the opening acts - so inevitably I always get asked "WHO ARE YOU HERE FOR ANYWAY?!" so an anquette would be a great way to make yourself known in that respect. (To put it into perspective, say there were anquettes at Taste of Chaos - you would actually have a chance to write "I'm here to see MUCC" or "I'm here for D'espa." That would be cool, right? It's also a good way to gauge fan interest, since people can see exactly how many people come out to see a certain band when they play.)

And also they'll ask things like "What did you think of the show," "What kind of merchandise would you like to see," "Give a message to the band members," things like that... it's cute, lol ^^

LMAO ANYWAY I've been talking on mixi with a few people who also went to the show and they're like "When you come back to Japan let's see TCST together!" so if I ever go back, perhaps I can convince them IT'S HONESTLY OKAY TO BE A LITTLE MORE ANIMATED... it's not like it goes against ~*Japanese sensibilities*~ or anything because the SaTaN fans were absolutely insane, lol. XD Guh I love SaTaN and their fans so much ROFL. But yeah, it really was an amazing show and egyreryfy I really hope it's not another year until I can see TCST again, lol... XD
