yea well i heard the remake was being made a while ago, but just the sarah michelle gellar part i didn't know >.<

thats the main thing that the studios used as a selling point...when you remake a movie like that where there isn't much to the story (no big monster or explosions) you sell it with someones name attached to it, be it a famous director or celebrity already attached to it... She had been cast in it from day one. thats HOW they got fiancial backing to make it.
