ive been out of work for almost two weeks, and am seriously going insane. insane, i tell you!
of course, ive been applying to and interviewing for jobs like mad- and there are two that seem like they could work out. one is working as a cs manager (booring), and one is working for this amazing non-profit outfit (this is the one that i want more than anything). blah, im just praying to simon that i get one of them. the good one, hahaha.
i think it's funny (sort of) that im having such a hard time with this- i mean, i haven't even been able to get myself hired part time at my local grocery store(s). what's going on here? im not that much of a freak. i really think it has something to do with the personality tests they make you fill out online these days. im notoriously bad at taking them, and i dont think i ever give the appropriate answers. oh well.
at the very least, im getting lots of good experience with going on interviews, and learning to refine and tailor my resume for specific instances. i know that eventually ill land something. yeahyeahyeah.
but.. one of the lamer side effects of this whole stupid, self-imposed nightmare is that im going to miss katsucon AGAIN this year. blah!!!
on a lighter note...
erin and i went to see dir en grey in nyc on saturday night. oh heavens, it was fun, but let me tell you that i had TWO (one, TWO) drinks that night, and they hit me so HARD, it was ridiculous. on my way out of the show, i slid face first across the street, and have a great, grody cut on my chin that will more than likely leave a scar. oh well, scars give people character, right? =) anyway, the night was great overall, and we met a lot of cool kids.
valentine's was pretty sweet, too! the weather was insane- snow and freezing rain! the roads were terrible, and a lot of local places lost power... including the japanese restaurant where chris and i had reservations! fortnately, there was another place right up the road (one i actually preferred), and we got in and had a delicious meal. as far as gift go, i gave him the morrisey book he had been eyeing (he asked if getting it for valentine's day made him gay. i said yes, of course, but that it was part of his charm), decadent chocolate truffles from my fav candy shop of all time, a mix cd, and homemade irish creme. he gave me flowers (pinkandwhite lilies), dinner at my fav japanese restaurant (accidentally), a live love and rockets show and a live specials show, chocolates (of course), and THE YELLOW BOWLS I HAD BEEN PINING OVER FOR MONTHS. score!
finally, my bread experients just arent working. i know i need to get better at kneading... i KNOW that's it. ugh. i must say, however, that my flourless chocolate cake is the hit of the season, thank you very much.
