A parable, by Khall

Once upon the time, there was a fisherman, who offered to ferry three gentlemen across the lake.

They all got into the boat, and got a bit across the lake and one of the gentlemen goes, "You know, there's a leak in the boat, I'm getting wet."

And the fisherman says, "It's just a wee little leak, it'll be fine, just ignore it and it'll go away."

And an hour later the first gentleman goes, "Yeah, my shoes are ruined, I might as well swim if you're not going to do anything about it." And he hops out of the boat.

Now, of course, the leak slows down, because there's less weight in the boat. And so it takes another hour before the second gentleman goes, "We better start bailing, my shoes are going to get wet soon."

And the fisherman goes, "Oh, it's just a wee little leak, it'll be fine, no reason to bother bailing or patching, we're getting on fine."

Another hour goes by and the second guy jumps out. And while the boat is almost half full of water now, it's still easier than it was the last hour, because the second guy's not there to add weight.

An hour later, the third guy doesn't even say anything. It's obvious to him that the fisherman is not going to fix it. So he just jumps out. Now, of course, the boat is really going. But it's still not going to make it. And the fisherman drowns. Because now there's no one left in the boat to help him patch the leak and he waited too long to attempt it.

The end.
