RusFurrence 2013 • Events, a set on Flickr.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexfvance/sets/72157632763386468 The organized events at RusFurrence were fantastic. The indoors ones were in spacious, flexible, well-equipped rooms that were close together and easy to access.
The tech crew was always on hand and quite adept at solving last-minute incompatibility issues. I also appreciated that wireless microphones were available at every event -- I don't normally need these, even for larger spaces, but given the language barrier I'm sure it was a big help.
I ran a Photography panel and an English proficiency one, and did a story reading, each of which went (largely) swimmingly and gathered a warm, inquisitive, resourceful audience.
I attended the Fursuit Games, a verycasual, hands-on, stage-free set-up that actually made the event a lot more exciting to watch and cheer for. The tea and chocolate and muffin-making party (where the oven exploded a little bit and was immediately fixed with Russian determination) was wonderful; one of my hosts was decked out as a Sherwood-style alchemist, doling out delicious potions.
The demonstration of a home-made Tesla Coil was apparently too dangerous for any electronics to be brought into the room, so alas, no pictures of that.
The closing ceremonies started, well, predictably late considering this is a furry con -- but the audience was warm and vocal regardless. In fact, RusFurrence had attracted so many attendees this year that the space was simply too small to stand a chance of group-photographing everyone!
