With a few pops of his semi-automatic, the heartless were gone before they even had a chance to move forward.

Tseng had enough to deal with without shadows popping up all the time and trying to eat the common citizens, but he'd been doing it long enough that it didn't come as a surprise to him. This world was infested with the creatures, much like the Planet had been, but this time he was capable of eliminating them. On the Planet, the shadows had been given no form, and as a result, was impossible to destroy.

What did come to more of a surprise to him was the young lady who was standing in the middle of the alley, puny gun cocked in a hand. It looked cheap, but his attention was not so much on the weapon as it was on her face. She looked like a much younger version of Rosalind, with messier hair. Tseng had given her up to the shadows only a few days before he had appeared here, and had grieved her loss as much as his life then had permitted it--which was very little. Too many people he had cared about had died and were turned into monsters for him to truly get a handle upon how he felt about their deaths. He had loved her, but it hadn't been given a chance to blossom in the heat of constant battle.

And now, it didn't matter.

She had never mentioned having a younger sister, unless this girl was a duplicate of her in another time and space. Tseng couldn't be sure as to how the process functioned.

"No, they don't," he said, simply, before he moved forward. He was surprised that she could use a gun, even though the way she held it was clumsy and obviously only recently learned. If he pretended to be ignorant, things would be much easier, and he would find out the information he needed anyway.

Sooner or later, it all comes down to bouncy, cute, monster shadow things i_pwn_the_world May 18 2006, 20:32:40 UTC
"Rrrrrr kyeh!" Came a cry from around the corner, behind Tseng. The larger heartless lumbered into view then, rocking back and forth on their thin legs. They bounced, swinging back and forth without rhythm or pattern.

A rock fell down from the building just missing Tseng's shoulder. Upon looking up, one could see that these tall heartless were joined by more fearsome apparitions. Long clawed fingers gripped the tops of the building so tightly they crumbled. Black saliva tinged their dark jaws and they let out rumbling hisses.

Something was weird. The black blobby things were exploding all on their own--...wait, nevermind. That guy in the suit had dispatched of them for her with an infinitely superior weapon to Elena's own little pea-shooter.

She looked up at her would-be savior and gave him a grateful smile before doing a quick double-take. The man who had, ostensibly, saved her life from a black and blobby death was Tseng Wulong.

Tseng. Lindy's BOSS.

"Mr. Wulong...! uh...sir...Turk Leader...person..."

Fortunately, or unfortunately, Elena was spared any further chance to embarrass herself in front of her older sister's superior when more shadow creatures appeared en masse.

(Honestly. This was just getting...stupid.)

The faint thud of pebbles hitting the ground drew the girl's eyes upward to a truly horrifying sight. Hideous creatures who made their rather chubby counterparts--because it was fairly obvious that they were working together--look positively cute in comparison were stationed on the rooftops, flexing long, sinister-looking talons.

They were trapped.

Heeere he comes to save the day! ....Wait, wrong mouse. themouseking May 18 2006, 23:33:24 UTC
It was raining. Mickey realized this as soon as he stepped into Traverse Town, blinking with squinted eyes up at the black sky. It wasn't raining in his world, so he wasn't prepared for it. A smile crossed his face when he thought of what Minnie would say. She would certainly scold him for going out with no rain coat, warning him of the perils of getting sick.

His clothes were thoroughly soaked before he started walking along, jogging at a pace that caused his shoes to make gross squishy noises. Mickey was freezing, although he didn't think about it.

Matters at his castle were tended to for the day, he could resume his quest to figure out what was going on, this mystery that perplexed him.

A cry hit his large ears, causing them to twitch as he stopped running, skidding only briefly on the cobblestone path. He looked around momentarily, before he charged further once more, following the sound of the cry from where it echoed. He rounded a corner, and widened his eyes.

A bunch of the shadow things were surrounding two humans!

The mouse narrowed his eyes in determination, pulling out his sword from its holder and ran, slashing at some of the Heartless from the rear. "Take that! And that!"

Granted, he is only three feet tall, and his sword isn't very long.. But at least it's a possible distraction off the humans a little.

Question: What time is it? XD I'm presuming it's like, early eveningtime or something. __black_silk May 20 2006, 10:26:14 UTC
"Don't touch them!" Tseng's warning rang out, sharp and clear amongst the chitter-chattering of the Heartless, as he turned back to look at them.

He had witnessed the injuries wrought by the creatures--within the past couple of days or so, some of the Heartless had transformed from harmless looking critters into venomous monsters [for a reason that he had yet to figure out], and more than one person had died as a result of the poisons.

His precise gunhandling skills popped off several of the creatures, but there were too many for just one person. When the mouse, huge and dressed in human clothing swept into his field of vision, he reloaded his semi-automatic and carefully took out a few others, slightly startled by the sight. However, he had seen ducks walking around in clothing and speaking like humans--and he wasn't so surprised, after becoming used to that idea.

Tseng had seen the Heartless on his way back from his apartment, but he had gotten used to carrying a loaded gun at his hip, and was always prepared to kill anything on sight. The rain poured down, and his hair was a slick mess upon his head--but he was undisturbed. This was his job.

Backing against the girl, he made sure she was close to him, ignoring her words--there were more important things to focus on, and the first priority was getting her out of this situation alive.

Sure! We can go with that. XD rookieturk May 21 2006, 21:46:54 UTC
So...uh...why exactly was a giant mouse running around killing the blobby things with large...key...sword...thing?

Elena was very confused. She did her best to ignore the mouse (it really wasn't any weirder than the baseball-capped ducklings who sold her this craptastic gun) and follow Tseng's lead, picking off the larger and more dangerous-looking creatures. However, the steady downpour obscured her vision, and the girl's little handgun naturally pulled to the left when it fired. In short, her aim was CRAP.

Here she was with the PERFECT chance to impress the freaking LEADER of the freaking TURKS, and Elena found herself barely able to hit the monsters.

Right now her skills were about on par with...Rosalind's. Yuck.

"Don't touch them!"

Mickey froze, after smacking a black shadow away with his shield, turning to blink in slight confusion at the guy who screamed at him to stop. Didn't they need help? He recalled the first time he came, he was unarmed and got swarmed with the Heartless. He was lucky he got away, and certainly didn't intend on coming back empty handed again.

He returned the sword to its holder but kept a tight grip on his shield, watching the two of them fire bullets at the shadows while trying to keep the large hulky Heartless in sight. Silently wishing he was an archer of some kind, he would only smack the heartless with his shield if they got too close to him, firmly intending on helping the two humans.

"Are ya guys alright?!" He called out over the chatter of shadow creatures and the downpouring rain.

Did you chaps order the side of heartless? i_pwn_the_world May 22 2006, 23:44:34 UTC
[Tseng's actions botted with player permission]

The last of the tall heartless finally exploded into green orbs, taking Tseng's bullet in-between its large, yellow eyes.

The creatures at the rooftop had yet to attack; they hissed and flexed their long, sharp fingers. There was no fur to speak of aside from whiskers, and the creatures were sleekly black without a break for nails. It seemed that their very fingers were sharp and bladelike.

And they were fingers, hands that were simian, at the very least, if not human. They flexed their jaws at random intervals, blue tongues hissed out from sharp white teeth. Their eyes, like the less threatening creatures before them, were yellow; however they had hard arches to them, when combined with their flat heads and long necks, it gave the impression of a row of snakes heads attached to cat's bodies.

A shot rang out from Tseng's gun, sparking in-between the eyes of one of the creatures. It blinked when the white sparks lit up the alley at impact, but was otherwise unharmed. The bullet could be heard falling back to the floor. The thick, blue tongue licked the place, sliding along a yellow eye before the creature growled.

When Tseng fired again, the creature screamed, falling backwards, its companions didn't move. A moment later it flipped back to its feet, black blood dribbled down the side of its face from its now ruined eye.

I'll buy a drink for that dark bloke in the corner. And by "drink," I mean "a body full of lead." rookieturk May 24 2006, 23:28:44 UTC
No amount of training in the Shin-Ra Military Academy's shooting range could have prepared Elena for the real thing. These were living, (ostensibly) breathing monsters that moved and bled and spat black gunge, not paper cutouts with targets marked over key lethal and non-lethal areas. This was not a video game.

If she were to get hurt...or worse...there would be no "restart" button.

The girl's face stood out stark white and absolutely terrified against the darkness of the streets. She aimed wildly at the larger creatures, and let out a sigh of relief when Tseng's bullet felled the last one.

The other creatures, on the other hand, were harder to contend with. They resisted normal attacks, and Elena was fairly certain that Materia--even if she had some--wouldn't work in this strange town.

Plus, she realized with a frightend squeak, she was out of bullets.

I'll eventually get some action... eventually. themouseking May 25 2006, 02:26:55 UTC
Mickey stood there, staring at the man as he fired off several loud boomy things into one of the larger Heartless creatures. Mickey came from a land where guns were outlawed, hence why he was standing there gripping his sword and shield, both of which had the mouse insignia on them somewhere, although the shield's was more prominant than the sword, which merely had the mouse face engraved on the hilt.

He wanted to help, but the two seemed like they were taking care of themselves rather nicely, especially because he didn't seem to have any bullets upon him, and they seemed to function better when they weren't paying attention to him. No matter. Mickey wasn't a quitter, and he certainly never gave up on anyone in need.

"Are ya two alright?!" He called out again, warily watching the bleeding monster. Eww.. that's rather disgusting. "Ya both aren't hurt, are ya?"

Had to fix that spacing. It was annoying. Hopefully this is okay for everyone. XD __black_silk May 26 2006, 00:44:39 UTC
"We could be better!" Tseng replied, finally, having been distracted with the crowd of monsters that were creeping towards them.

He watched the monsters get back up, something he had never quite seen before, for a split second before he turned to speak to the mouse. There was a time to retreat, and then there was a time continue the fight--and this was a time to retreat. "I don't think we can kill them with these," he motioned with the gun, "but if you want to try, go ahead. If you don't, come with me." The insides of buildings were relatively safe, and he had been planning to go back to the mansion prior to this anyway. And if he wanted to move, it would have to be fast--these heartless moved like fast shadows, and he wasn't sure how easily the newcomers would be able to catch up with them; the normal ones had an easy enough time of it.

He didn't have time to think about why the mouse spoke, even though it struck him as odd.

"This way." Grabbing the girl's wrist, he dragged her in the direction of the mansion, hopefully to safety.

As my Utahn in-law's are very fond of saying: "You're good." rookieturk May 26 2006, 02:58:18 UTC
Elena barely had time to register the fact that the mouse was speaking in her direction for the second time when Tseng addressed her. She nodded mutely, still a little too shellshocked by the events of the past forty-eight hours to really let his words sink in.

Suddenly, something was tugging powerfully and painfully at her wrists. She wanted to fight the vice-like grip--had a monster gotten hold of her?--but then she was running and it finally occured to her that Tseng was saving her life.

Oh.

Elena let him drag her along, his long stride adding momentum to her rather short and stubby legs (stupid genetics). Houses--not unlike the ones in Kalm--flashed past in a rain-soaked blur, growing larger and grander as they went.

Where is he taking me?

Mickey watched Tseng quietly, watching the human fire off several rounds. Only when the shots had hit their marks did he turn to glance at the shadows.. to see them retreat.

Well.. it wasn't much, but it was much more effective than his little sword.

When Tseng spoke, his ears twitched, and Mickey returned his eyes to the one 'in charge' of the situation, before nodding. "Right!" Not wanting to be caught in a situation where he would obviously lose before he learned what he wanted to, he took off into a run after Tseng, moving his short legs quickly to try to keep up.

It seemed like the male human knew a lot, and Mickey intended on asking him some questions later. But now.. safety was rather good...
