Title: Wipe The Slate Clean
Challenge: [255] Tabula Rasa
Word Count: 298
Spoilers: Potentially slightly for the BBS secret ending.

The room wasn’t overly crowded, so when the door went, Lea heard it clearly enough for it to make him look around from where he sat at the bar.

Maybe that was just how it was meant to be. He was the one who walked in, after all, and got all of three strides before he caught sight of him and stopped dead.

How long had it been since they’d seen each other? Years, probably- it must have been years. He’d caught the barest of glimpses of him when he’d returned, before he’d grabbed Roxas by the arm and pulled him out the door, needing to get away for a long time. He’d certainly succeeded.

For a moment, they just stared at each other, two sets of green eyes locked as thoughts raced through their heads.

This was the moment where they were supposed to rush forward, embrace, say things like “I’m so sorry” and “I missed you”, reconcile.

This was the moment where they actually thought “You betrayed me- you left me” and “You asked me to do terrible things for you, and I gladly did worse, so much worse”.

And it hurt, because they could feel it, all this resentment and anger and hate, they could feel it overwhelming the memories of happier times in this very world, of a loyalty forged through whispered secrets and shared laughter.

And it hurt because they could feel it, with both hearts now firmly back where they belonged, and there could be no more excuses, not now everything was back as it should be.

What could either of them possibly say or do in a situation like this?

Nothing, it seems, because when Isa turned and walked back out through the door, Lea made no move to stop him.
