challenge: [234] coping strategies
title: don’t worry about it
wordcount: 282
notes: my best friend’s catchphrase + this challenge = a goofy drabble (literally!)
Goofy had decided not to worry about the Heartless - cuz hadn’t they led him to Sora? He didn’t worry about who Namine could be - cuz she must have been nice, to have needed a thank you.
If he worried about these things - or about the King, or Riku, or about how awful a pilot Sora was - he knew he just wouldn’t be able to have fun helping people. He might not appreciate the neat worlds they went to, the friends they made, or the adventures he was getting to go on.
It all worked out, anyway, the not worrying. The Heartless’ munny went to his son Maxie - Max’s college fund, Riku showed up, and surviving Sora’s flying somehow became funny stories, according to Cid and Leon.
Unfortunately, his philosophy drove Donald nuts, and more then once Sora had heard an argument that began, “Don’t worry about it!” progress to, “But I am worried about it!” and restart with, “But don’t worry about it!”
Sora always thought it was funny how only one side was actually arguing.
Finally, Donald couldn’t take it. “It’s the last door, Goofy! You can’t just go through and say you’re not worried about anything! You gotta worry sometimes!”
Goofy thought for a moment, scratched his head, realized he’d forgotten how to do it, and gave Donald the best (well, only) solution he had: “Shucks, well, can you do all that worrying stuff for me?”
He wasn’t sure why that idea made him a big palooka, and he didn’t worry about it.
