There weren't many of them left.

Seifer was pressed against a fallen tree, under cover of a bush--"taking strategic cover," he called it, though that niggling, deadpan voice in the back of his head just called it "hiding." He counted through his ammo. Two left. It wasn't nearly enough.

He'd lost track of his friends. Fuu was a survivor; she was probably still out there, giving them hell. Vivi? Kid was tougher than he looked, but odds weren't good. And Rai? Rai had taken a shot for him, and gone down smiling.

The grass nearby rustled. Seifer grabbed his weapons, one in each hand, ready to attack.

"Water!" a youthful voice cried--Vivi, Seifer recognized instantly, and the next thing he heard were torrents of magical water tumbling down from the sky. He grinned viciously, showing his teeth; judging by the sounds, Vivi'd taken down at least two of them.

"Water!" Vivi cried again. "Water! Water! Wat--augh!"

And then it was just him and whoever'd taken down Vivi.

He crawled out of his hiding place, careful to keep a low profile, and gaped in awe at the devastation Vivi had wrought. He didn't see anyone moving, but--

The gun pressed against his back.

"I'm really going to enjoy this," Heiner said.

"Let's not get hasty..." Seifer said, raising his hands--and his weapons--into the air.

He let one drop just as Heiner pulled the trigger.

"That was totally cheating!" Heiner fumed, dripping wet.

"Oh, shut up," Seifer said, and threw the other water balloon.
