"Shooting star! It's mine, it's mi-ine!" In his haste, Sora's voice is rendered an embarrassing prepubescent screech. His hands shoot out in a mindless attempt to shove Riku from the pier, as if this will somehow prevent his wish from being stolen.
The older boy in unmoved. As Riku rolls his eyes he keeps his friend at arms length with a hand pressed rudely against Sora's face. "You still believe in that stuff? Honestly?"
Sora can't get in reply with Riku's palm cutting off his air supply, and the words come out a muffled mess. He stops trying and worms his tongue between his lips instead.
"Hey!" The childish squawk is Riku's this time, and he recieves a satisfied smirk from the brunette beside him.
"Afraid of my cooties?" Sora mimics the high and mighty tone he hears in Riku's voice all too often. "Now who's the kid? Huh, Riku? Huh?" It's ruined by the raspberry tacked onto the end.
"You. Figure out the difference between what's real and what your parents tell you." The boy's resolute tone makes Sora pout. He hopes he'll never act like such a geezer.
Riku's world is turning black and white, and it's Sora's job to give him magic.
He closes his eyes with a knowing smile, and makes a wish.
