Challenge: None
Title: Fair Play
Word count: 423
Notes: Mild spoilers if you aren't familiar with Org. XIII members; use of a dirty/sexual word; no pairings. Doubt the concept is totally original, but I couldn't help it.

Even as Somebodies under Ansem’s tutelage, the original six had shared a somewhat competitive relationship. It was part of what drove them, what had eventually made them the best in their respective fields on their home world. They challenged and inspired - or in Braig’s case, mostly annoyed and irritated - each other.

That much, at least, had survived their transformation. Even now, Vexen had great difficulty conceding defeat - especially to Xigbar - and Xaldin was not exactly what one would consider a “good loser”.

But now, things were different.

It was no longer six, but thirteen all told, and the stakes were much higher. Odd, that, considering they had very little - or rather, absolutely nothing - to lose, except what little remained of their existence.

Well, that, and their dignity. There was silence as they all tried to anticipate the Gambler of Fate’s next move. Finally, he laid down his tiles.

“Luxord, how many times must we go through this? You cannot use proper nouns!” Vexen threw up his hands in aggravation at the letters arranged on the board in front of them. “And that triple word score doesn’t count,” he added in what anyone who didn’t know better might have called a petulant tone.

“Oh, come on, mate,” Luxord began in what must have been his fifth attempt to wheedle something past the rest of them. “It’s not even my name!”

Zexion stared quietly at the board, arms crossed over his chest, studying the layout and its possibilities. “If I don’t get to use it, I don’t see why you should,” he pointed out. They had long ago decided that even without the official rules, using any of their current names would give an unfair advantage, what with all the ‘x’s. Now, it seemed, they would have to make an addendum to that rule.

“Using Number VI’s given name shall also be off-limits from this point forward,” Xemnas concluded.

Heaving a sigh, Luxord reluctantly scraped his titles off the board and returned them to the bag, retrieving a new set. Attention now turned to Lexaeus, who had remained silent throughout the exchange.

With deliberate movements, the word “fellatio” was neatly spelled out, making use of the triple word score that Luxord had failed to claim. The Gambler groaned, Vexen’s expression wavered between disgust and incredulity, and Zexion simply raised an eyebrow at the larger Nobody.

Recording the total score, Xemnas set his pencil aside and began contemplating his own tiles. He was certain that “q” could be used somewhere...
