the myth of the Superman

Just a quick little observation... Max Landis (http://youtu.be/0PlwDbSYicM) was talking about how Superman as Clark Kent was a diss on his view of humans because he--a super-strong, super-fast, super-etc being--was "dumbing" himself down to "fit in with the humans.  However, I was just watching the newest movie and had a thought.  What if Kal-El really is the awkward geek that he is as Clark?  What if, when he steps into the role of Superman, he looks so confident because he is focusing himself on fixing things so he doesn't have time to be his normal awkward self?  Much like how there are real-life humans who are normally a mess in their every-day lives, but when a crisis hits, they're the one calling out orders and helping to save lives.  For myself, personally, I'm a VERY shy person.  At a convention, you  will probably only see me if you come to my room or if we meet in passing on my way out to grab food.  At FurFright, I feel the security of my position and know what I have to do and that I need to be ready to take charge and make decisions.  I can talk to people and I don't even worry about what I am going to say--all those normal (for me) little anxieties don't exist.  I know we like to idealize Kal-El but why can't he be just a normal guy who gets all tongue-tied and nervous when the woman he likes enters the room?
