district band was ridiculously entertaining. well, at least the people at district band were ridiculously entertaining. oh, and seneca valley high school (where it was held) was going to get all flooded out on thursday so we had to all get our crap together and move to Butler high school, 25 minutes north of seneca. both schools were really really nice, but seneca's bathroom facilities were a lot nicer. but butler had a really neat looking staircase, so i suppose it balances out. anyways, it was really neat being with 161 other musicians for a few days. i made some new friends, but its sad bc i wont see them til next year (or ever, in rachael's case, as she's a senior :( bummer). but i did get all their AIM names, so i'll hopefully talk to them on there. especially eric, a percussionist with a bowl cut that hangs down in his eyes. its really funny. but hes really funny and we talked a whole lot the whole time, we had a lot in common so that was really awesome. ha there was this short kid there named cody, he plays the trumpet, and we sat with him at the "banquet" on friday. he was cracking me up, he came up to about my shoulder and he was trying to be all charming and everything, asking me what i wanted to drink and being all flirty and sweet. if he was taller, it would have been alright, but he had a high pitched squeaky voice and was in the 11th grade, so that kinda was weird. but eric was really funny, we were taking pictures of random people, and no one found that weird bc we were all band people and used to stupid crap like that. my stand partner, caroline, was really funny too, although it was mr. matchett (the grumpy old guest conductor)'s rule that there was absolutely NO SPEAKING ALLOWED ON STAGE UNLESS IT WAS HIM. he made this very clear to us numerous times and would get all upset if someone quietly asked their stand partner a question. it was kinda funny but very annoying. so anyways, me and caroline didnt even talk to each other the whole first day of rehersal (which is a very long 13 hour day) so i didnt know what she was like but she was wearing this really odd shirt. but on friday, we were all sick of mr. matchett and didnt really care anymore, so we talked a lot and she ended up being really fun. marek is the sex god of oboists. hes so hot, he has this black curly hair, i mean really really curly, and his face is just perfect and he plays the oboe better than anyone ive ever heard, including professionals, i swear. he starts playing and you just want to jump on him. ^^" and chris rizzo (isnt that an awesome name? i wish my last name ended in -izzo) was first chair trumpet I, he was awesome and really hot as well, but really short. he and nikki are good friends (they met at district band) so i talked to him some, but not a whole lot. oh and there was this bassoon named noah who was really odd. after we were all seated for the concert and the house was open and there were people coming in and everything, he took off the top of his bassoon and buzzed into it like a trumpet and it made this odd low belching sound and some people in the audience were really confused looking. mareck does that with his oboe too, it sounds relaly neat, he takes the reed out and buzzes into it. he tried to teach me how when i was in 7th grade at middle school districts, i went there on oboe and he was there too. he was excellent then as well--just took all the money out of his bank account to buy a professional oboe (he was in the 8th grade). he said his parents were royaly pissed but he knew he will get an awesome oboe scholarship when hes a senior. at that time, he wanted to major in performance and oboe or something along those lines. i dont know if hes changed his mind, but i highly doubt it. but i'm gonna go shower in my OWN shower and eat my OWN cereal. ^^" i have so many other things to say about districts but im sick of typing.
