This is not a story, but a collection of interviews (the subtitle is "An Oral History of the Zombie War"). So don't look for plot or pacing. The setting is the very near future (and already out of date: Fidel Castro is still ruling Cuba at the end of the war). As for the characters, well, I found the zombies more plausible than the uninfected humans (and far more plausible than the dogs). It may have been intended to be funny, but there weren't any jokes and the irony was very heavy handed.
